Not even close. It said I came from Des Moines, IA, Buffalo, NY and Rochester, NY. I never lived anywhere near those places in my life and neither did my parents. We were from western PA and moved to northern Ohio back before I was three years old. The only tenous connection I can think of is that northern Ohio and Buffalo are both on Lake Erie but they aren't that close.

Not even close! Put me in La or Ms and I grew up in central NC. I'll try the test again just to see if there's any difference.

Interesting
It puts me in Sacramento and I was born, raised and lived the area for 50 of my 57 years.

It nailed me. North New Jersey. This accent has followed me to Michigan Ohio and Colorado. I'm constantly asked "you're not from around here, are you?

In the summer of 1956 I stayed with my sister and her husband in Sacramento Ca and I worked in a gas station on Mack road. In 56 you did every thing gas, oil, tires. any thing they wanted. I asked the customer any thing else? He asked me where are you from kid, Arkansas or Oklahoma? I asked him how did you know, he said by the way I talked. Jeff

Was born and raised in NYC then when we got married moved to Elmont Long Island. For years I would get "boy you ain't from around here." Or they would tell me I have a New Orleans accent. Now no one says anything. Frank

Tried the test again and results were the same, near New Orleans or MS. You people with accents should give it a try. I never thought I had one. *s*

Very entertaining and spot on. Despite 9 years living in tidewater VA, 2 in Maryland, and 21 in Maine, it put me right back to my NY origins within 20 miles! Crazy!!! Thanks for posting.

Nailed me
Pegged me as Des Moines, Rockford IL or Milwaukee. I was born and raised on a farm 20 miles south of Rockford but Milwaukee is totally off except I went there to visit breweries when I was 18 yo. I've lived in the Des Moines area for the last 30 years. I have lived in Indiana(4) , Maryland(5), Chicago(2), New York/New Jersey(17 yrs). My career took me all over USA, Canada, parts of Mexico, western Europe and as far as Australia. I always tried to avoid accents and local peculiarities because of my career.
The quiz had some questions I could have answered differently. I grew up calling soft drinks Pop but I changed to soda while living in NY/NJ. Now in Iowa we call it soda pop.

When I moved from Ohio my new co-workers said I had an accent. I told them no; everyone where I grew up talks this way.

Hmmm, Santa Rosa CA, Lincoln NE and Madison WI. Not even close.
Born, raised and lived in the Boise area all my life.
Boise and the surrounding area is a giant melting pot of folks from all over the country. It has been that way for a long time.
This test seems to lean heavily on local jargon.
