Breakaway , This is better than Fantomworks. I came from a family of mechanics Dad, bros, they would fix my friends cars for beer. So of course I never learned to fix any car stuff. I could do anything points, plugs, brakes etc to my 1972 Datsun 1200 because they taught me but after that forget it. Not like fixing guns. Cant wait to see it go. You are a talented man. Thanks for the thread.. Forgot to add, I really like the truck color is cool...

Installed the "restored" grille and the rubber bed mat. Customary bumper stickers applied. Next up is the headliner.
In 1978 I was living at the Adobe Lodge in Half Moon Bay,Ca. $375/month, with utilities, for a 2 br. apartment, right on the beach. I was going to Farriers school down the road in Watsonville.
Those were some good times!

I shod horses for about a year. I learned fast that many horse owners didn't discipline their animals and when I appeared it was game on; horse vs. farrier! If I reprimanded the animal they objected. I reprimanded the owner..they really objected.
Getting cow kicked..bit..whipped and pissed on by a large animal..I realized it wasn't my calling. My Dad suggested it as he loved horses.
So..I went back to fixing cars..as they have zero issues with mechanics. Usually..

My daughter is a farrier. Has been for 30 years. She also trains horses...and even more so...rider/owners. She has some tales about getting the horse's attention. I told her though one day she'd get tired of having that 1000 pounds on her all day. She actually called me and said I was right about 4 years ago...Huh? Right about what?? She said she was getting tired of that weight on her back. She still does high end horses and a lot of riding mules...Pack animals too

And cars don't piss on you either......usually! Sorry, I had to do it. Truck is looking really nice, BTW.

Moment of truth..sunlight! Drove it a few miles under it's own power. Truly amazing how well it runs and drives. I didn't put the disc brakes in yet but it stops fine with the drums. That big ole 429 motor just torques along happy as can be. Me too! Not so much as a rattle or a squeak. That's my original Ca plate on front. Sure takes me back..

I installed the front disc brake setup and new dual circuit master cylinder. The kit utilizes newer F150 rotors and G.M. truck calipers. They are still manual brakes but the truck stops 100% better and straight every time.

Ive been driving the Ghost for a while now...that's what I'm calling it....and it's going to be difficult for me to part with so.. i'm keeping it. Money be damned!
But..need to have some ca$h flow...I sold my old Kubota tractor and chipper which I haven't been using much in the last few years.Off to Vermont it went today.I got exactly what I paid for the tractor 18 years ago..and same for the 12 year old chipper. Basically a push..and I got use out of them.
Sacrifices have to be made!
On the Ghost:; I widened the front wheel track about 4" and added some subtle USAF decal on the doors and will continue to burn up more fossil fuel.

I wish the progress on my old Ford pickup went along as fast
and as nicely as yours has.
Two things slow me down. Money and time.
