The call came in as a mother “having trouble” with her 47 year old son. No violence or weapons reported.
We need to have the dispatchers say “thanks for letting us know! Goodbye!”
Call his doctor. Call a social worker. Give him his teddy bear. Leave him in his room and go to the movies. But don’t call the cops. You made him crazy, you deal with it.
The news identified the murder weapon as a “Glock .45” but I suspect its a Glock Model 45. Picture below.

We need laws that makes criminal an adult making a call for help during a domestic altercation that does not make clear that the subject of the call is armed.

The apologists for the criminally feral have objected to the police training that teaches officers to consider everyone a potential threat. The problem is - it is not necessarily obvious who is or is not a threat, so assuming everyone is potentially dangerous is just a necessary safety issue. This is a lesson learned in decades of dead and injured cops, but the average person does not understand this hard truth, so they think it is paranoia training, not valid training.

We lost an officer in Houston last night.
Constable on a traffic stop.
Shooter stepped out of his vehicle was the officer approached.
Reported that he lit the officer up with an AK.

It’s now being reported that PO Mora has NOT lost his battle and is fighting valiantly! He was transferred to NYU LANGONE Hospital a short time ago… Prayers needed.

I think Officer Mora is still alive. He was transferred to a different hospital, likely one more suited to deal with a devastating brain injury.
Apparently the killer is a vegan taking care of his non-vegan Mom after she had a stent put in. He was upset about her lack of vegan-friendly food in the house. You can’t make this stuff up.
He was also a cop-hating psychopath.
Kudos to Probationary Officer Sumit Sulan for putting the mad dog down.

Rookie PO Sulan reportedly having the symptoms of PTSD. He stepped up and did what he had to do but the trauma he experienced will last forever. Those who were at 9/11 are still re-living that experience. He will not be the same person he was prior to the incident and he needs counseling and support. The NYPD is responsible for taking care of him but as time goes by he will just become a number. They don't have a good track record and dump troubled MOS in the "rubber gun squad" after first recognizing them with medals and promotions.

Yeah the NYPD has a pretty good support structure for MOS in need. It’s more a LE culture that prevents guys from seeking help.

You are right. Two of mine refused to go for help after 9/11 because of the possibility of "modified duty" and toughed it out instead but I could see the changes in personality and behavior from the experience.

The "hate cop" rhetoric has got to stop!!! It will change only when we have proactive city leaders and not reactive " lets not offend anyone" attitudes that seems to govern this country.
Portland P.D. attempted to rehire 81 of their retired officers and only 2 expressed mild interest. God bless the men and women that suit up and go in harms way each shift.
