At no point.
We're out 40 billion already and it's only been six months.
We should use that money here at home to take care of our veterans of other ridiculous wars.

Nobody NEEDS to be brainwashed........they just ARE.......and some don't even realize it.
We cannot afford to be saviors of every lost cause in the world.

We got into WWII because of Pearl Harbor.......we were attacked.

Der Verminator you seem to be stubbornly isolationist or maybe just like yanking peoples chain.
The Holocaust cost the lives of six million Jews and the systematic killing of Roma, Poles, Ukrainian, Jehovah Witnesses, Black Germans, homosexuals, disabled people, Russian Citizens and Russian Prisoners of War.
France and England caved into Hitler’s demands for the territory of other countries in the peace and look what happened. A simple look at the map shows Putin’s next target is Moldova which will give him control of the Black Sea coastline until Romania. In addition it will give him control of Ukraine’s wheat production which supplies about 30% of Third World Countries food supply. Coupled with the large amount of Russian wheat exports Putin will be able to create severe food crisis in many countries and topple their Government to be replaced with his handpicked leaders.
Will a weak United States and NATO stop Putin invading the Baltic nations Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania which were former Russian territory?

It will also give him the trillions of dollars in oil and gas beneath the Black Sea.
And there's not a darn thing we can do about it.
So why waste taxpayer money? Forty billion already and it's only been six months.
With the huge problems we have at home in America........why are we flushing money down the toilet?

Sure, exactly the same circumstances. Baghdad was still screwed when I left 2 years ago, and Kabul is screwed today. None of these were analogous to Russia invading South Ossetia, Crimea, nor Ukraine. Details matter.

Der Verminator,
You seem to be obsessed with
money and costs. You mention
it in every post.
How long would the dollar last
abroad or here at home if a Putin
could successfully keep cowing
nation after nation?
BSA1 possibly has the answer:
You just like yanking peoples'
chains.

They're exactly the same circumstances.
America, the most codependent nation in the world, is (as usual) sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong.
Was a disaster in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq and it's a disaster in Ukraine.
The weapons dealers get richer and the taxpayers get poorer.
And people die because of it.
That's our history and some of us don't appear to be learning from the mistakes of history.

The media coverage in the US has been "poor" at its best.
many outlets (reddit & others) have provided daily /hourly updates pursuant to what is really happening. The contributors are from both sides, translations are provided.
The written and video entries are frequently difficult to read (due to the content) , and horrible to watch.
In closing, if you really want to know what is happening, the details are available.

Besides, if Ukraine falls,

Ukraine won't "fall" for many years.
It will likely be absorbed very slowly (and maybe never).
The "Domino Theory" has been proven to be a myth.
Putin is no Hitler. He barely has the military might to conquer a backward neighbor that is being propped up by the rest of the world.

Got it. Thanks. Never been to Reddit before.
I read about twenty stories and they seem to be the same stuff I see on CNN.

That may be because CNN has to investigate and confirm stories to be factual.
I do see combat footage on CNN and coverage of atrocities......even lots of that seems staged.
One thing you can count on in war........both sides constantly lie.

still doesn't jive with analysis.
In the perimeter of the same general regions, the Russians have resumed air strikes, seemingly with impunity.
Ukrainian air defense is obviously down.

Per this article, the Russians may be attempting to cut power to Ukraine and route it to Russian occupied territory. To do so would require a full shut down of the plant.

If the plant is now on its back up diesel generators, it is a dangerous situation.

Are you saying the Ruskies shut down power to the Ukies air defenses so they could bomb safely?
But wouldn't air defense systems have auxiliary power?

Russians defend against drones with Mosin-Nagants.
At the end of the day, McCain was right - Russia just a gas station with nukes.

"Look, Russia is a gas station masquerading as a country," McCain said. "It's kleptocracy. It's corruption. It's a nation that's really only dependent upon oil and gas for their economy, and so economic sanctions are important."

Whose foot and wrecked what asset?
Not sure what "Free Ukraine" might be or what they were cut off from.
You're going to have to give me more details.
I suspect that SAM Sites have auxiliary power, but I don't know.
Anything is possible in the Ruskie/Ukey war.

Mocking people fighting and dying for their freedom is unattractive.
"Ugly American" is a stereotype depicting American citizens as exhibiting loud, arrogant, demeaning, thoughtless, ignorant, and ethnocentric behavior mainly abroad, but also at home.

Nah ... I'll just let your ego walk you to the gallows till you figure out how not to be a jerk.
You can call them "Ukes" all you like. At the rate things are going we'll be calling them refugees, and quite possibly neighbors.
I'd much rather avoid culture clash and language barriers by making safe their homeland if possible.
I don't believe that is possible however.
They may very well be gutshot and dying in the street. Only one in this thread seems intent to kick them in the abdomen while picking fights with those who'd rather ease that process of suffering.

Now here's news of an appropriately named weapon for the forum.
Apparently, 800 units of an unmanned air vehicle called the "Revolver 860" are being put to use on Russians in Ukraine. It's a flying revolver cylinder that holds eight 60mm mortars.

Clearly a case of "Hey- I have a great name for this new weapon: VAMPIRE.
Now we just need to come up with an acronym for it."

So.........you are happy to mock the Ruskies but uncomfortable when somebody does the same to the Ukes?
All these soldiers are fighting for their lives.......both sides.
Sounds to me like you just want to mock somebody who disagrees with you.
Both sides in this circus of a war seem fairly incompetent.
If my saying that bothers you......well, keep in mind it's just my opinion.

That kind of attack is uncalled for and inappropriate.
If you can't answer the question, just say so without the namecalling.

If you think we have "huge problems" in this country now, watch what will happen if the Russians succeed in conquering Ukraine. Does anyone think Putin will stop there? A Russian victory in this war will almost certainly lead to a wider conflict involving NATO and inevitably, the United States...and when that happens, what will you and your ilk say then?
Call me corny, but defending the sovereignty of another nation doesn't strike me as flushing money down a toilet.

The Ukrainians are fighting for their freedom and lives.
The Russian troops are fighting, most likely, for fear of what will happen if they just said no.
Of course there are those that love mayhem etc etc.
Sad but true.
People like that live here as well.
Sad funeral yesterday in South Florida.

Kennedy?
Kennedy's been dead for SIXTY years.
His ideas are history. He's a man of the previous century.
Defending another nation when it's really none of our business and especially when it's a lost cause is a mistake in the 21st Century.
This current little "war" will most likely end in a peace settlement in a year or two that gives Russia all the seaports and almost total control of the Ukraine economy.
Russia will spend another ten or twenty years in pacification of Ukraine as it again slowly becomes part of Russia.
Putin will be long dead by then.
Anyway, it was never any of our damned business.
Given the problems Putin is having with Ukraine.........the idea that Russia would attack a Nato country is absurd.

In other words.........
The Russian troops are fighting for their lives, and dying, just like the Uke troops.
The Ukranians may be more motivated........but neither side has a choice.
There are no villains in this war except Putin.

Russian 3-star Surrenders to Ukrainians
So much for the pitiful remnants of the 'stand or die' Russian military. Zhukov rolls in his grave.
For comparison, the only American lieutenant general in modern history who surrendered was (temporary) Lt. Gen. Jonathan 'Skinny' Wainwright, a month after Bata'an fell to the Japanese and the last major US artillery battery (Battery Geary) was destroyed by a freak Japanese shell hit at Corregidor Island, the last position held by Americans in the Philippines, in Manila Bay in May, 1942.
Images and video shared on Twitter and Telegram purportedly show Lieutenant General Andrei Sychevoi among a group of Russian troops handcuffed on their knees with one social media user saying they were near Balakliya, in the Kharkiv region
Many noted the similarity of one of the captured men to other images of Sychevoi.
