I think I know the answer, but let me ask the question anyway.

I just received a solicitation from the NRA. I have been "nominated" to receive the "National Patriot's Medal" and to become a member of the NRA Golden Eagles.

I have never heard of the Golden Eagles, nor the National Patriot's Medal.

Is this a "real" organization, if so what do they actually do? The NRA website doesn't have much to say. They support Eddie Eagle, and gun rights. I thought that was what the NRA did.

I am thinking this is a creative way to seperate me from my hard earned cash.

What say you? Are any of the forum members also members of the Golden Eagles?

So just another solicitation from the NRA, or should I be honored to have been nominated?

I received a similar solicitation last year. It struck me as yet another level above Life, albeit at an expensively stratospheric level.

I'm already at Benefactor; that's enough.

I got one of those "nominations" too. I would venture to guess if a guy had a buck for every one of those mailed out he could still afford ammo. I send them donations fairly regular, but this "award" seems a little beneath what I would expect.

Very prestigious! Only those with an address and a checking account are allowed membership!

ETA, but it's not all down side. You donate $200 to an organization that is doing you some good and they send you trinkets.

I doubt if there is a life member that hasn't received one of these invitations. Or, perhaps any NRA member for that matter.

The Golden Eagles support a lot of important programs within the NRA. They have a new website now too.
