LETS GO RANGERS
As Labworm used to say, “nothing stranger than a NY Ranger”.
Down 3 games to 1.
Good show by the Penguins.
Bring on the Canes’.

Do the names Gump Worsley,Lou Fontinato,Bill Gatsby and Red Sullivan ring a bell?
The old Madison Square Garden on 8th Ave at 50th Street where a high school kid could buy a side balcony ticket for $0.50 but all the ice was only visible from the 1st two rows of seats up there.A mad dash once the gates opened.

Never went to the old Garden.
I used to hump loaded handtrucks in the garment district for $1.25 an hour in the summers up and down the concrete canyons.

Never went to the old garden either, but I've watched a Ranger's game from the very last row of the upper balcony. It was worth it! No better atmosphere for a hockey game.

That series took some years off my life...but in the end my boys prevailed.
Gonna be a different animal against the 'Canes. If I recall, the 'Canes took 3 of 4 this year from us. (Whereas, we've won 7 of the last ten from the Pens, including the playoffs.)
Rangers are the youngest team in the playoffs, so every game played will be experience carried forward. But I still hate losing. LOL.
Wednesday night at 7. Be there!!!

I went to my first Rangers playoffs games at the Garden in about '68 or so, versus Montreal. Only got to use two of my tickets before they swept us.
Still original 6 back then.

I took great pleasure in watching the Maple Leafs not advance Saturday night. I’m 90 min from Toronto and relish all their failures. I’m expecting my beloved Buffalo Sabres to make playoffs next year. We are a goalie away.

$1.25/hr was a good job back then when most paid $1.00/hr
After the 1st period ended we would often sneak down to the pricey seats close to the ice that were vacant.
I was in the right place at the right time once and a puck came over the glass and landed in my lap. That may have been 1959 or 1960?
The ice was resurfaced by guys skating around with wide shovels followed by a another 2 guys pushing a drum of water. This was before the Zamboni.

Maaaaaaaaaan we had you guys dead to rights about 5 times in this series and you squirmed out of it every time!
Well played and I'm surprised the Pens even had the upper hand given their AHL goalie for 5.5 games.
Good luck vs. the Canes.

Had to root for the old home team, even though I don't understand or follow the game.
Now Stickball and Stoopball, those were sports!

Indeed! I have no illusions of the Broadway Blues hoisting the Cup, but if you’re not skating, you will surely have no chance.

I’d love to get some tickets for next week but not paying scalper prices.
Lots of Rangers fans around here but those Canes fans are sure proud.

I'm pulling for the Rangers. Only Original 6 team left in playoffs. I think my Red Wings have a few more rebuilding seasons ahead of them.

Rangers all the way. I have to be honest I am shocked at how well we are playing Carolina. They are a young team and proud of how well they are doing.

The Canes stepped up the pressure in the 3rd period, keeping the puck in the Rangers end for the most part.
The Rangers looked somewhat flat, though they had a few scoring chances.
Once the OT started I knew the Canes would win, less the Rangers get a fluke goal.
On to Friday night.

Honestly, I felt that the Rangers squandered a great opportunity to win the game. I lost count of how many shots went wide when Raanta was out of position and left a wide open net to shoot at.
They have no one to blame but themselves for the loss...had they executed even marginally better, they'd have left the arena with a win. It's on them.
If Carolina returns to playing the way they did during the regular season, it's going to be a rough ride for NY.
That said, I'm pulling for the Blueshirts.

I thought Shesterkin played very well.
Game 2 is a must win for NY.

Agreed. He was back to playing the way he normally does.
The thing that impressed me with Carolina earlier in the season was how incredibly well conditioned they were. They seemed to be able to make runs up and down the ice without ever wearing down...while the opposition was gasping. (Brind'Amour has always been a fitness fanatic.)
That is the team that scares me more than anything else.
Anyway, I feel like we're playing with house money right now...but it will still hurt if they can't move on.

Pens played 6 games with their 3rd string goalie, 1 1/2 games without one of the best players to ever put on a set of skates, and still almost won. Everyone around here pretty much thought NY should've won in 5 or 6 games even with everyone healthy. It sounds like Malkin, Rust, and maybe Letang will be wearing a different uniform next year. Crosby can be a one-man force at times. Malkin has disappeared. Hats off to the Rangers!
"Ladies & gentlemen, Elvis has just left the building!" "And Shesterkin doesn't know whether to cry or wind his watch!" "Get in the fast lane, Grandma. The bingo game's ready to roll!" "Well, scratch my back with a hacksaw!" Even our play-by-play man has retired from the booth; Hall of Fame announcer Mike Lang was a treat to listen to!
"Well, I'll be cow-kicked!"
(I don't know how to spell Igor's last name!)

The Canes conditioning showed in the 3rd, they were all over the ice.

Sounds like THE ARENA aka the old barn in St. Louis. If you sat high in the corners the opposite side corner was not visible as well as most of the scoreboard.

Other than killing off a 5 on 3, the Rangers offensive PP has been abysmal.

Unfortunately, this series is proving my worst fears about the weaknesses of this team.
Granted, they are a "young" team...but they've been playing hockey forever. They've been exposed and over matched by a superior team.
I'm pretty much out of "wait until next year" enthusiasm.
Thank God for 1994. They can't take that away from us.

Dang!!! Their strength has become a weakness in this series. Carolina has got our Rangers number this time around. I’m hoping they can change it and surprise the hurricanes.

I think the other Ranger fans are hiding.

Since my Bruins are out of it, I’ll pull for your Rangers. Only original 6 team left, and I don’t care for the Canes.
I was at the game when they won the Cup in 06. It was fun watching them win it back then, but I’m not a fan, and it was a lot more fun when I saw the Bs get the Cup up in Vancouver in 2011! Talk about people staring at my Bruins hat…! They were very nice about it though.
Rangers have their work cut out for them. Ol Rod has them tuned up pretty good. That said Go Rangers, I think they can do it!

The Rangers are such a frustrating team from one night to the next. The 'Canes were great.
Where the heck is Panarin? He's been AWOL in the playoffs.

The Rangers seemed to have fallen apart again last night. The Canes played like champs. Hopefully my Rangers can get there play together fir tomorrow.

As the youngest team in the playoffs, at this point I'd say they've acquitted themselves well and demonstrated that things bode well for the future.
That said, I hope they take Raleigh by storm tomorrow night.
