Default Border patrol patch

My youngest brother Evan is an enthusiastic turkey hunter who lives in San Antonio. He got a call from a guy who has a ranch in Bracketville (about 50 miles east of Texas / Mexico border) to come hunt. He was on his way back and called me to chew the fat. 10 minutes into call he says "hold on, got to go through the checkpoint". In Texas usually around a 100 miles from Mexico border there are checkpoints on major highways into the state. Designed to slow down the coyotes who bring illegals across border in scrubland, then 10 to 20 miles in put them in trucks to go deeper in the state.

Anyway, I hear Evan talking to Border Patrol, after quick visual inspect of vehicle, he tells Evan to proceed. Evan tells him thank you for your service, even if your higher ups don't acknowledge it. BP thanks him back, I tell Evan to thank him from me as well. I was on blue tooth so Patrolman heard and thanked me back.

He then tells Evan hang on a second, go's to his outdoor shaded area grabs a patch out of the bag and slips it in to Evan, telling him have a great day.

Cool! I'll be shooting with some Border Patrol guys and gals at the Bianchi Cup next week. They're a great bunch.

Tell them we appreciate what they do for us. I'm sure they don't hear that nearly enough.

Actually, we would run into those checkpoints on a number of back roads where you wouldn't expect to see them. They seem to jump around a lot.
