Default I'm learning a new career... Artist

After retiring from farming three years ago, I moved to the city and quickly found myself bored. When I was a kid I would look at the illustrations in magazines and wish I could do what those artists did, but I never had the chance or time to learn. Now I have the time. It took quite a bit of effort, and time, to learn the ins and outs of computer aided illustration but I’m glad I stuck with it. If Grandma Moses, who started her art career at age 78, can become an artist why not me at 75?

This is my latest illustration. It took almost a month to complete but I am getting faster as I go along. I think this one is good enough to be printed on a 24” wide canvas and framed.

That's very nice, Jinglebob. Well done!

I am ignorant about computer aided illustration. What is the process?

Eye catching! I envy those with artistic eyes and hands. My oldest granddaughter is gifted that way.

Everything I do looks like a Rorschach test.

I like it! Reminds me a little of those paintings of classic cars.

Very nice Jinglebob. I love art and music but sadly for me both are strictly a spectator sport.

That is a really nice urban landscape. I admire the talent of people who can do this. The only thing I can draw is legal descriptions of parcels of land, but I need a compass, protractor and scale in order to do it.

It was insinuated that I was interested in insects because all I could draw was flies.

Graphic Designer here and I'm a big fan of Illustrator too.
Looks great! Don't do cut-n-paste on things like the windows and repeating objects, they always jump out.
Keep going!

Mom is retired now at age 90, but she had been an antique dealer all my life and in the late 80's really focus on prints and paintings. A one point she had a gallery in Columbus, one in Ft. Lauderdale and one in Miami. I have been around many people who fancy themselves artists, but their works look like Yoko Ohno's work (looks like the floor of a freshly emptied dumpster!) I have two somewhat talented kids and one very talented!

I have a definition for "Artest": Someone that works on producing art, but is never satisfied until the result matches their inner picture!

Vincent van Gogh, painter 24 major works of "Sunflowers" and never got his inner vision satisfied! That general dissatisfaction is what drives so many artists crazy!

Now my observations on Jinglebob's work: I think you made the grade! You expressed yourself in a manor that is not only your vision, but anyone can understand what you were expressing! (Unless that idea was an abstract way of saying something like, "I like cars better" which I would get!) I see your use of color for the subject and monochrome for the background as leaving room for individual interpretation. I like when I need to thing to have an idea about a subject.

A illustration like yours, is the type that makes me thing, That I will always look at trains differently in the future.

Thank you for sharing!

Ivan

Very nice indeed.

Is this an actual location? If so, where is it?

Love the train!

Default Art

Reproducing scenery, objects, and people’s likenesses, with a brush, is not my forte. I’m fortunate to be able to draw my breath. I’m better at creating things of beauty from wood, leather, and metal.

Our son is an excellent illustrator/artist. He studied, art as a hobby, while he taught English Literature, at OSU In Columbus, OH. He never let his artistic talent interfere with his life work, and chooses not to use that artistic talent. What At a waste. We have several of his illustrations framed, and proudly, displayed in our home.

Heck, I can't even do the bubbles on a Scantron right....I'm hopeless for making anything remotely recognizable as fish, fowl, flora, or fauna.

I am dang good with emojis though ....see, I told ya!

Great job! Congrats! I hope you have a successful new career, looks like you really got it. For the communication with the future customers i would recommend you to read more about microsoft 365 business voice sms. With this program you can easily reach a big group of people at the same time and let them know about your new works.
