Ever Have Your Wife Draw Down on You?
Last night I went out the front door to take a last look around. Unfortunately my wife had set the alarm, which I can't hear until it goes to the scream mode. When she looked around the corner and saw the open front door, she call my name, which I also did not hear. Her next move was retrieving her Ashland Shooters Supply M-60 from the coffee table drawer to confront an intruder.
When I came strolling down the hall she seemed a little angry with me , first for not turning off the alarm before going outside and secondly, I did not answer her call.
My friends know to announce themselves before entering and calling out "don't shoot". I guess I need to get with the program. She is well disciplined with firearms, and a good shot. She would always ID her target before pointing her weapon and pulling the trigger so I'm not worried about a friendly fire incident. I do need to curb my stupidity to prevent her from getting mad at me. Another one of life's little lessons learned.

No wife, but I’ve had a Deputed Sheriff pull down on me.
He jumped out of the bushes and Yelled Don’t Move!
He was pointing his Throw Down.
His Service Weapon was still holstered.
It was a big ugly rusty 45.
The muzzle looked at big as a culvert.
And the muzzle was shaking! That’s what bothered me the most.
Jack The home owner proceeded to mumble through an explanation of what we was doing.
The Deputy finally lowered the gun, mumbled something, and went back through the trees to his car.
Just another day in Paradise !

I often wonder why Muggers and burglars don't announce their presence by shouting: "POLICE, FREEZE."

Many years ago I was in the middle of a divorce, still sharing the same household. One night when I came home, all doors were locked and for some reason, I didn't have a key. No problem. I knew a window that I could raise from outside... I had my shoulders through when I sensed that it was not a good plan. I dropped back to the ground just as my soon to be ex came down the hall with her Colt Trooper .357!
Later I realized she could have negotiated the end of the divorce right there!

Not a draw down but definitely a teachable moment
Teaching my ex wife to shoot , she had a 22a not go into full battery after a shot she turned toward me saying “hey this thing won’t shoot”
It was pointed right at me dead center, loaded ,safety off …
The expression of your “insides turning to ice”, is real lol
I quickly palmed the gun turning it down range and side stepped all in one motion
The wife acted like I had over reacted , I don’t think so lol

Back in the Winter of '68 I was waiting to get a flight from LA to NYC.
Took two Rangers for a tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills while waiting for our next morning flights. Me on leave and they on leave before heading to SEA.
While in the Hills I noticed that flashing lights suddenly appeared in great numbers.
Foggy that night
Opened my window and got a 12 gauge in my face.
Cop immediately raised it and yelled, "they're Soldiers."
I replied, "I'm an Airman."
I did that him for his trigger control.
Cops got a report of a car full of men wearing Berets.
To keep within the OPs intent.....
had it been a female Officer with the 12 gauge, I might have married her.

"I do need to curb my stupidity"
This is why I'm sorta thankful wife doesn't want anything to do with guns: I can't control my stupidity sometimes! I'm often outside in the back feeding the deer or filling the birdbaths for them and/or the morning birds. (Stupid is feeding the deer by hand, too, I know.)
I had an incident when a cop drew on me. His hand was shaking so bad it scared the *&%$ out of me. I knew him, too. "Bob, put the (darn) gun down! It's me, Jeff!" as I had my hands up and went down on my knees real slow-like. He even missed his holster. We talked & had a beer or 3. First time you ever drew on somebody, Bob? Yeah. That .38 hole looked like a sewer pipe going back & forth!

Back in the days when we had model 10’s and had to draw arms from the station safe for every incident, I, along with several others, was standing in the safe room loading and holstering a revolver.
I looked up from holstering just in time to see the defective/detective standing beside me close the cylinder and turn, pointing the muzzle at my stomach with his finger on the trigger.
I locked my fingers around the cylinder, pushed his hand away from me and told him what an idiot he was. He couldn’t understand what he had done wrong.
He went on to have an outstanding career of screwups which I read about semi-regularly.

Yes she has. I had it coming as I passed out around 2 PM watching NASCAR. She drew down on me with a sharpie and when I woke up, I had a beard, "stash" and a odd set of eye brows. That'll teach me!

I used to work for Florida Airlines years ago . One of the guys on the line was having a rough time with his live in girlfriend , his house and he was having problems getting her out . He came home from the night shift after stopping for a few . From the story he went home and couldn't get his key to work . Started going through a window and she opened up on him , hitting him twice . About that time I went to work at the Cape , but later I heard she got off , Stand Your Ground law here in Fl .

No, but one night in narcotics after several hours in a buy house and smelling like all the Doobie Brothers my border collie cornered me when I came through the door. Took a lot of calm talking before she recognized my voice. Previous family had warned me she "hated hippies".

I have never forgotten the post I saw on here by one of our officer members about the rookie officer who had seen someone carrying a 1911 cocked and locked. So he started carrying his revolver COCKED in his holster too! He apparently had been doing it awhile before someone caught him.

I was in the PD locker room one night when one of our overlap shift officers was in there, putting his Sam Browne and sidearm in his locker. I asked why didn't take his gear home with him and he told me that his wife had drawn down on him one time when they were arguing and didn't keep any guns in the house anymore.
Ain't no way I'd a stayed married to THAT woman!

...On a side note, living with a woman and having guns in the house (whether or not she is proficient with or likes guns) is a terrific incentive to behave yourself.
Miss Pam has fired exactly 2 rounds from a hand gun. She wanted to shoot my Glock 17, full size 9mm. We had gone over the controls and safe handling points and explained the "sight picture". I handed her the pistol with a full magazine and a round in the chamber. I coached her on her stance and grip and told her that all she need do was to squeeze the trigger.
At some point after I took my eyes from her hands to watch the target she raised her right thumb slightly. When she fired it was a bulls eye...but the slide took off about 1/3 of her thumbnail.
I held my breath. She said, after a moments pause for thought, I'll fire one more shot. she turned and faced the target, set her feet got her grip with blood all over her right hand and put another hole in the bulls eye almost touching the first one. The target was at the 10 yrd line.
I had no words. She is a natural. To keep her focus and concentration immediately after an injury (and busting a fingernail) and scoring another bulls eye...WOW.
On the way home we talked about it. She said she was glad she could prove to herself and to me that she could handle a hand gun. She made a couple of sideways (humorous?) remark about my behavior too but neither of us pursued that.
She has not wanted to shoot any more. Not afraid just not all that interested. She said it was enough to know that she could if she had (wanted) to.
I always TRY to be a good boy, don'tcha know!

My wife used to have this bad habit of rearranging the furniture.
I was working 3:00 to 11:00, and they decided we needed some overtime that night, so about 2:00 in the morning I get off work and come home. I open the front door and see the back of a sofa, and realize that once again the living room has been rearranged.
Not wanting to turn on the overhead light and disturb everybody, I take out my mini mag and turn it on and start shining it around the living room, to see what she has done, and what I would have to do to get around the furniture to the bedroom.
From the bedroom I hear CLICK!!
"Uh, baby, it's me. Put the hammer down.

No, but my mother did. Her doctor asked me to take her car keys away, before she hurt herself or someone else, when driving home drunk from the local Moose Club. I tried. She chased me out of her house with an H&R .32 revolver, stuck in my face. It was cocked. I left, without the keys.
That was nearly 30 years ago. I will never forget that moment.

No… but I had a gun shop salesman point a loaded gun at me, pulled the trigger and it jammed…
Let me explain… I was interested in a handgun they had for sale but it didn’t seem to be working right as the slide kept hanging up. They have a gun range on site so he loaded a few rounds, went to the range and shot the gun. I heard about 3 shots go off but didn’t know how many rounds he loaded - obviously he didn’t know either. He brings the gun back to the counter and proceeds to tell me that it works fine, points it at me and pulls the trigger.. thankfully it jammed. He drops the magazine and wrestles with the slide and sure enough, there’s the round. He never apologized - he just looked stunned. I said a few choice words and walked out. I should have made a big deal out of it but didn’t.. this was about 10 or 15 years ago or so.

A shirttail relative of mine is a self admitted anal orifice. Been through a coupe marriages, very difficult guy to get along with for very long, arrogant, self centered...you all know the type. He had a penchant for handguns and had taught his last wife how to operate hers. They got into an argument after which he said "Theres the door, don't let your fears hold you back." Then he ambled off down the hall. She went into their bedroom and got her .40 Glock, went back and promptly shot him in the back as he was going out the door. Then she went into the bedroom pointed the Glock at her midsection and fired, didn't do the job...while still concious she put the thing up to her jawline and pulled the trigger again which knocked her out. He came to on the floor, in great pain in his back and unable to get up, crawled to the phone and called 911. When they arrived she was still alive...he refused to press charges because deep down in his heart he knew he asked for it. As a result he had to pay for all of medical treatments, not to mention his own, which were significant. After all was said and done she left him significantly poorer but wiser.

I went to estimate a residential door R&R job. The 70 yo male contact said his wife wanted a pair of new doors. Already suspicious, the existing doors were in perfect condition. When the wife showed up she cited a sliver of light showing thru the weather stripping. Now I am about to run. I had to remark that I could not improve on the present situation and that no one can make a house into a submarine. On the way out the man said that he cannot find anyone to do any work. In my mind, only, I answered: "if you got a problem making your wife happy, you deal with it."

In the fall of 1975 I was working 11 pm to 7:30 am. At mid night we went on strike. When I got home the storm doors were locked, my key were of no use. I walked to the bedroom window and knocked, my wife 5 months pregnant. She came to the window and all I saw was the barrel of my Model 19 pointing at me, I hit the ground and rolled against the house. We kid about now but not that night.

Slightly off topic:
1970's,, carrying my cocked, locked, and strapped 1911 in uniform.
A little old lady approaches me (Irate firearm expert) and says "Officer do you know how dangerous that cocked pistol is?"
All I could think of to say was "Miss, the reason I carry it that way is BECAUSE it's dangerous."

Never had my wife draw down on me (she's not much on handling guns), but I have experienced something almost as scary...the silent treatment. It's almost as if you cease to exist. On the other hand, we are closing in on our 30th anniversary.

No not my wife but a former gun shop customer. I had replaced the stocks on his fathers .32 auto. That man died and his son inherited the collection. Okay stupid of me I know but all I did was replace the stocks and didn't check the pistol for total safety. The son took the pistol out to the backyard and set up to shoot. Loaded the mag and chambered a round then put on safe as he went back inside for ear plugs and safety glasses. Returning to the shooting table he picked up the pistol and squeezed the trigger. It burped and he had a rapid-fire conniption fit. He brought the gun to me and after inserting the mag showed me it was on safe and would still fire. It was pointed at my belly. I pushed it away with my hand and it discharged. Two rounds in the length of time it took you to read the word "two". Both rounds went through my hand, entering on the palm side of the third knuckle joint and passing through the knuckle joint of my pinky finger, and exiting on the outside edge of my hand. Magic words were expressed by both of us then I told him this gun is mine and he was not getting it back. His exact words are lost to me but in essence he stated I could keep the d*** thing he didn't want it back. That was good cuz he wasn't getting it back, even if he'd wanted it back.
Fair warning to all of you, IF YOU SHOOT ME AND I LIVE, I'M GOING TO TAKE YOUR GUN AND YOU WON'T GET IT BACK. I'll be more than happy to give you the remaining bullets, one at a time, but the gun is mine and I'm adding it to my collection.

Not the plan but I can't complain about the results. I've got about 55 percent feeling in my pinky finger now which is about all the Dr's say I'll ever get. It doesn't like the cold worth a dang.

With a gun, NO. However, one time I thought it would be funny to come up behind her quietly in the kitchen, must have made some kind of noise cause she turned real fast and hit me upside the head with a 1950's era fry pan.
