61 years...
My wife and I will have been married 61 years ago tomorrow. Still together and still in love. I've known her since we were in 3rd grade together.

In a post you did some time back, there is a pic of your wife to be in the 6th grade. When I saw the bright Inteligent look in her eyes, I could see she had plans for life! Which meant she had plans for you! You have been blessed for a long time. (But I don't think you stood a chance of getting away.)

As it turns out, we are both visiting our cardiologist for checkups (yes!). Then we are going to our traditional primo Italian restaurant for a special meal. Back at home, we'll pop the cork on a special bottle of champagne that I started chilling today! And Booger will get several dog biscuits to celebrate with us.
It's been a long journey. As I mentioned, we met in 3rd grade, started dating in high school, and after I was commissioned in the Army after college graduation, we began married life in an attic apartment while I was on TDY prior to my PCS. Marrying her was the culmination of my dreams - I've been crazy about her almost all my life. She asked me to marry her, and I didn't hesitate to do exactly that.
After 61 years, we've had four children, all daughters - the oldest was killed in a private airplane crash in 2018 - the other 3 are doing fine. They have spawned five grandchildren for us; and we have one great-grandson.
We are living comfortably now and are financially independent of the workaday world. I enjoy writing firearms articles; after so many years of collecting and learning, I'm glad to share many of the things that I've learned along the way. We pretty much now do what we please and are in comparatively good health.
And we have Booger to keep us constantly in good moods! What could be finer??

Believe me, I was smitten by her back then - she was cute, had a marvelous personality, had a beautiful voice (could sing like an angel) and was fairly bright to boot. You're right - I didn't stand a chance!

Thanks, Erich! I hope you two will be able to make a trip to Phoenix before too long - we do have a favorite Mexican restaurant that we are itching for you to experience!
