My local shop has been depleted of guns and ammo, and it is a big store, for the past few months. But today when I went in to pay on my Smith on layaway, I noticed the gun cases were totally stocked with all kinds of Glocks, Smiths, Kimbers.....you name it. The ammo was stocked up too. One of the fellas there said sales were really down the last few weeks too. Seems the folks who could buy did buy and now the stocks are going back up. Keeping my fingers crossed but I too am out of spending/play money with the summer coming on.

I've noticed the supply of guns has caught up with demand and prices of AR15's are coming down. There are lots of Colts available on gunbroker.

Ammo is still hard to come by but does appear to be getting easier to find. I've seen some 9mm at Academy and all the 7.62x39 you could want.

Just got back from the gun shops and yes ammo is comming in. Handgun calibers were stocked with the exception of 357 mag. Still no 22lr or primers other than for shotguns.

Prices are still at a premium though

According to several local shops , distributors , wholesalers and factories themselves have stopped taking new orders , till they catch up with back orders. Supposedly , several ammo makers have stopped taking orders for '09 or till further notice that they have caught up with existing orders.

Killin you! Man I took a S&W hard case to the shop to put the M57 in so it will be safe and secure until I can get it out. I just bought two Henry Rifles last month. Gimme a minute.

I think I have seen signs here that the bubble may be a bit wobbly, nothing can last forever.
I went to a gun show last Sat. there were some first timers there selling ammunition, prices were high, not astronomical as in the past six months, but it was not moving, I saw no sales.
I think they went home with most of it.
I have been watching gunbroker for a couple of new handguns, ones that I have not seen for 4 months are starting to show up.
If I had any thing that I bought for speculation I think I would get it on the market now.

Not so lucky in Michigan!!! Found one box of Winchester .308s for $18.00 Must have been marked wrong. Pistol Ammo what is that again? Primers , forget them.

The Government is pumping "Trillions" of unsupported $$ into the economy, plain worthless paper. The ammo which seems expensive right now will seem cheap in a few years. Realize, that right now are "The good old days".

My local store has started to get back normal stock, plenty of ar's, defense shotguns and handguns. As far as ammo - plenty of everything except for 9mm.

My favorite local shop has really increased their inventory over the last two weeks. Guns and ammo don't seem to be in such short supply as they were. Some calibers (9mm and .45) are still dry and ammo prices still crazy, but most the ammo shelves are filling up nicely. Lots of new Sigs, Glocks, XDs, Berettas, tons of S&Ws, Rugers, a few Kimbers and Colt 1911s, black rifles of all sorts, combat shotguns. Primers have been showing up in small spurts too. Powder has been coming in by the case, but is still selling quickly.

If any Denver folks want Winchester .45 ACP Ranger L.E. 230 grain Talon (non +P) ammo, Green Mt Guns has several boxes at $32 per, which is a steal!

While I was there I checked the ammo supply.
Looked grim. No pistol ammo.. A few random
rifle and shotgun fare.
No .22, except for a few 50 round boxes of
CCI "Maxi-mags".
Grim it was. I hear of some other shops having
ammo in the area, but I'm almost sure none are
as cheap as wally world's usual prices.
I'm just sitting on what I have for now..
Not doing much shooting these days. I'm afraid
to burn up the ammo. Even the .22..
I'm to the point I'm seriously looking at
air guns just to have something to keep in
practice with. I think I can still get BB's
and pellets..

Picked up a new crossbow and a 28-2 I bought from one of our members Tues at the largest sporting goods store in N. MI.
Their stock of .45, .40, 9mm, .380, .357, actually all handgun ammo was totally depleted. They also did not have much of a supply of .22.

One thing that bears mentioning is tax refund checks are being used up and we're also approaching vacation season. As a practical matter, the disposable income that a lot of folks are presently applying to ammunition and supplies is drying up or by necessity being applied elsewhere. A generalization, to be sure, and does not universally apply especially to a lot of the kinds of folks who frequent the forum . . . but the fickle hoarders (many who voted for Obammy I'm quite sure) who couldn't be bothered to support the shooting sports or gun rights before and helped drive the shortages will now go back to spending for a new set of golf clubs or whatever. Things will slowly go back to "normal", but I look for continued high sales and demand for the foreseeable future from those who take it seriously. I doubt we'll ever see prices come back down to pre-panic levels again. Just my 2 cents, YMMV.

I actually found a box of Federal Hydrashok in .380 for my newly acquired LCP. It was listed online at a website that sells ammo, for $18.62 delivered. Heck yeah! I scored! It was the last box they had however.

I'm seeing lottsa ammo at my local purveyor, but at high prices that probably 'aint coming down. Still not many S&W's, and not much "tactical" stuff (especially shotguns) but I'm seeing a lot of sporting long guns and even a few EBR's on the racks. Heck, he's even had a couple of KelTech 380's on the shelf for over a week now. I think that the market has saturated for a while. -S2

I bet it will come down. A couple of days ago I finally broke down and paid some extortionate prices for some ammo and primers. Generally when I buy, that almost guarantees the end of the bubble.

If it's any indication, I've been receiving emails in the past few days like these;
• AR15s back in stock (Colt, Bushmaster, etc)
• Ammo back in stock (yes, 9mm, 5.56 and .45) from a number of vendors with reasonable prices
• CDNN also dropped their prices a bit on Glock mags (from 27.99 to 24.99) not the best yet, but the right direction.
I think these are good signs. Probably would have happened sooner if it were'nt for all the hoarders that didn't do their hoarding when the hoarding was good

The shops that have ammo have restricted sales to two (2) boxes of ammo and 1k primers per customer.

Others with ammo have it priced so high only a fool would buy any!!

I hear you Bob. One of the stores I frequent had a box of 500 round bulk .22lr ammo that I was buying for less than $13 at WallyWorld, and they had it marked at $29.95 !!! $55 for 100 rounds of .380 !!! Unreal and talking advantage of people in my opinion. Now who wants my 357 ammo ??? Shoo

If you have the time and a real bad urge, come on down to my neck of the woods. WTs gun shop has never had any shortages of ARs, shotties, or pistols. They have about a dozen showcases of revolvers and pistols and plenty of ammo to go with them. If you want to try it out before you leave they have a range right in the building. They also carry safes, clothing and just about any other accessory you would want.

I stopped in a local gun shop today. Ammo is a bit thin, but he has some. I picked up 2 bricks of .22 LR CCI SV, price was way up as expected. He even had a M41 magazine, so I bought it.

He has EBRs in stock, lots of pistols although they were spread out a little more than he used to.

Sales are down, they speculate because people's available cash has been used up.
