I am thinking about getting a booth at my next local gun show to sell a bunch of stuff. Where do you gun show vendors buy your display cases?

I am thinking of the kind that are a table-top box, with a glass top that props and stays open. I have found a few online but the main ones I find are either cheap aluminum or a laminate wood. I know most guys have nicer stained wood ones. Anyone have a link or a name to look up?

I am looking for a nicer version of this:

I don't know...
But 99% of vendors at shows have displays that look as though they have been run over by a convoy of trucks.

But I don't mind nasty, dirty stuff if it's priced accordingly.

Well I thought I had that information. But, when I did my last show I sold my display cases.

Any way, I think their in Texas, they cost about $100.00 shipped and the vendor sets-up at the big Tulsa show.

Sorry I can't help more.

I'd get one like you have pictured, along with a couple yards of green or blue felt from a fabric store ... glue that in and you just upped the appearance by about 1000.

I found one guy who makes beautiful display cases http://www.peterconsalvi.com

But his are too small (I need something 3-feet x 2-feet or bigger and he does not take requests for custom sizes). I know every gun show I go to, big and small, it seems nearly every other vendor has one of these on their table. Hopefully the right person will see this thread and offer me a lead. (fingers crossed)

See if you have a finish carpenter or cabinet maker in your town.
If you are not a wood worker yourself get some help, a good wood case is better than any of the aluminum cases available.
Have had both over the years and the aluminum only come is specific sizes, and the wood can be custom sized.
I got rid of all of the aluminum cases and replaced them with wood. Four 18"X30" pine and the other two are custom made solid oak that measure 28"X36". All have plexiglass tops, but tempered glass will work just as well, only heavier. Cases are a life saver. Keep the sticky fingers in the aisles and keep some bimbo from fingering a pristine pistol without permission.
All of mine came from a neighbor in MT who no longer is able to make them, and a buddy in AZ who just built the four little ones in his garage, nothing fancy.

nothing wrong with the one pictured, they been using them since the beginning of "shows"...as said above, line them with something pretty...all they are for is to keep the fingers and the drool ,OFF of the guns...
as well as to maintain "possession" of any of the little ( small ) pieces/parts....clips, etc.

and if you make, them stay away from "glass", they will take a beating and break quite easy.

SJshooter,

Ok, Here is the link to the guy that makes about 90% of the cases you see at gun shows. He is the vender at Tulsa that sells cases there.

He web site is not complete... but you can talk to him on the phone.

Good Luck

Bob

Iron-on patches. I design and make them myself. I have a lot of patriotic and military-themed designs that I think would sell really well there. The patches below that I designed were actually inspired by the S&W forum, and since they are an affordable impulse item, I am hoping to sell a basketfull at the SJ gun show. Maybe it will be a bust, but I really want to try. I sell these by the boatload online but this will be my first foray into setting up a live booth.

SJshooter,
This guy is just the one for you: Forrest Bogg at [email protected] I have 2 of his display cases. The famous prizewinner of displays at national gunshows, Jim Fisher, recommended him to me.

My cases are 3 feet wide and 18 inches high, in beautiful real cherrywood, and nicely finished. He also has walnut, oak, etc. The whole front is glass, framed in cherrywood. Rather than the hinged glass style in your photo, these open to place the guns inside, then close up.

Then you can either lay it flat on the table and look down at the guns through the glass, or you can prop the whole case up to almost vertical, using 2 matching wood props underneath, which tilts the case slightly backward from vertical. In either case, the guns are inside the closed case, and the case can be locked securely at the top via 4 small locks (snap locks) using a supplied key.

Imagine a wooden suitcase that is glass on one side, 3 ft. wide, 1.5 ft. high, and 3 inches thick. Inside, you can have about any color felt, backed by foam. The guns stay in place, even when the case is almost vertical, due to being sandwiched between the glass and the foam. You can adjust the thickness (pressure) of the foam by adding layers of it. It really works great, and no sweaty hands will touch (or steal) the guns. Also, there is a brass carrying handle, just like a suitcase.

For the super quality you get, it is a surprisingly reasonable price. He also has other sizes than mine. All the accessories are included in the price. Mr. Bogg will send you pictures, sizes, and prices. I NEVER saw any other cases as beautiful as his!!!

Thanks for the tip. Almost wish I had seen this earlier. I ended up giving up my search for nice wooden cases yesterday, actually, and got a great deal on two cases from Allstate Mfg. They are made of aluminum, but I will probably appreciate the lighter weight over time (especially since these are 32"x24"). Got a few with handles and matching locks and velvet pads. I will post a photo when I get my booth set up in a few months.

Not sure if you will find one you like here, but this is where I have got some of my cases. I get them in silver! They have different glass display cases. I have purchased a few and so far I like them. Good luck!

Just go with the ones pictured, they work fine, and You are not going to a black tie event. If one gets broken You aren't out much. Leave the lids down so people have to ask to handle a gun or whatever else You have for sale. Don't bother with a "please ask before handling" sign as most can't read or just move the sign and pick up. Some will reach into the case without asking if the lid is up. At least around here that's the norm. Good luck with the show.
