Getting ready for the parade...
Pulled her out of the garage and put a last buff on her for the parade this morning. We have a half a dozen or so vehicles that run in our town of 2,000 local parade every year. Anyone else have a small town parade tradition?

Is that a 62 or 63? My dad had a 4 door 63...we loved that car.
And here's our parade from last year...we try and dress up to add a little class.

That one's a 63, sip. Those were the days when I actually knew which models/years were which. Now they all look alike.

Hi:
My #1 Son had a 1961 four door Chev similar to this one in the photo.
We referred to it as a "Hardtop Convertble". (six cylinder, automatic transmission)

The current setup is a 350 mildly worked and a Turbo 350 with some reliability upgrades (B&M sprag, upgraded clutch packs, etc.). I need to drive it home from the track and not just to it. It goes mid 13 through the exhaust on street tires and pump gas. Not bad for 3,600 pounds of 1960's American steel.

I believe that the lead guy on our left is saying:
*Your other left!*

Do you reckon that skinny kid in front left, the one with the off foot, might have grown up to be handejector, or maybe rburg?

Imashooter2, very nice Chevy.
We have a Memorial Day parade in our little town of 539. People come from all around to attend and watch the parade. We usually have 2 or 3 different counties represented with dozens of custom and antique cars.
The population here probably doubles on parade day.

That's great! I would love to see that sort of turnout. We were down to only 5 cars this year and one of them was a 2005ish Mustang convertible. The owner was rightly enough proud of it, but it wasn't exactly a classic in my mind. I was struck by how small our VFW post has gotten too. Less than a dozen left and if any of them were under 70, I would have lost a bet.
Anyway, a good day for celebrating. Looking forward to the fireworks in a couple hours.

Our local parade
This is a tractor fun run for local charities. Here is a link just in case you happen to be in the area.

I'm really enjoying the pictures, guys. Keep them coming if there are any more. This is small-town America at its finest.
Being an incurable farm boy, I'm really liking the restored old tractors.

Little off topic, but I just took about 40 volunteer music students in a marching band though our towns parade. Hot day but it was all good.
Happy Fourth of July to all who served and their families.
