I find the technology superior to humans. I like not ever having to go to a bank and I'm coming around to apps/kiosks for fast food. It saves you time. It saves you money, because they have free stuff in the apps you can't get from a human.

Most of all, I have minimum interaction with humans which I mostly find a frustrating waste of time.

I hate those sales kiosks, except when visiting non-english speaking countries.

Was thinking of the first of those kiosks I ever saw, at a McD in France. I posted about it here a few years ago. A big help, considering the menu differences and language barrier.

I haven't been in a McDonald's since my son was small. He like to climb on the play equipment with other kids. I hated going there, and I no longer need to.

I have paid via a table mounted kiosk at Olive Garden (my son's current favorite place) a couple of times. It's easier (and probably safer) than giving your card to the waiters. Other places I eat are mostly mom and pop places where you still pay at an old fashioned register by the door.

For the USA, quite often it has the best coffee available in an area. In Europe, it's coffee is even better.

What an awful experience!!!
When the kiosk stops functioning, we are all gonna die a slow miserable death.
Same with the cash register.

I am surprised that this point has not been raised before now. Kudos to CalifEd!!

In all of the situations already described, the basic premise still remains unresolved or corrected. Far too many of our young people do not have basic math skills and knowledge. Additionally, they are highly (if not totally) reliant on technology and automation that includes these kiosks.

There is also a total reliance on electrical power to operate these electronic devices. In the Atlanta area we have ice storms (no matter how infrequent), tornadoes, hurricanes, power outages, etc. When there is a power outage all of the electronics cease to operate, and if the employees cannot "get back to the basics of life" (Merle Haggard ?) it all stops. We have already had this happen before in our area.

On a 21 hours straight through drive from western IA back to eastern MA a McDonalds was the only thing open on the NY Thruway in the middle of the night.

I was desperate for coffee and bought a cup. It was very, very good. It was also very, very hot.

That was after years of them working to improve their truly rancid coffee. About 2010.

It's not at the top of my list for coffee stops, but I certainly wouldn't say no.

I've done enough road trips to know that Pilot has better coffee, but Loves has cleaner restrooms. In NJ, I used to like WaWa coffee, but I never go there any longer.

Big truck stop coffee tends to be better than smaller places, likely because they have to brew it more often.

Worst coffee was in Hope, AR. In a gas station/convenience store that had a wedding dress for sale. No, I'm not making that up.
