Default What's in your wallet?

We hear that phrase all the time in credit card commercials. But I'm actually just asking that question.

A few weeks ago the was a thread on P-38 can openers, and someone mentioned they carried one in their wallet. I tried carrying one on a key chain 60 years ago and accomplished never opening a can. I did open my pocket enough to allow all my change to fall to the street and also opened my leg enough to bleed all over.

So today I put a new in the "instructive" wrapper Korean War surplus, P-38 in the change pocket of my wallet. While I was there, I took inventory of the useful and boring items in my wallet.

Last week's lottery ticket.

$47 in small unmarked bills

Credit card

Driver's license

Concealed Carry Permit

3 discount cards for stores or restaurants

A list of daily meds

4-3/4" band aides

2 golden dollars

a folded $20 bill for emergencies (like ice cream cones)

a new P-38

And last but not least 2 paperclips! I get a lot of "The Look" about the paper clips! They are different sizes and left over from my days repairing gas stoves. There is a ring that defused the gas into small jets of flame. When people boil over the soup or whatever they clog those jets. The small diameter clip for the small jets, and the large clip for the large jets. Just carrying them has saved me hours of trips to the truck to retrieve something to clean the jets. Boring but practical.

So, What's in your wallet?

Ivan

Nope, no photos of family!

Not much in my wallet these days but I still have an old P-38 can opener from Vietnam on my key ring. Maybe I'll never need it again.

Drivers license, roadside assistance card(AAA), Chase debit card, USAA credit card. Thats it. I am trying as hard as I can to be somewhat of a minimalist. My P-38 is still on my key chain from my Army days.

Used your list, I don't carry a wallet but a "half business card holder." Joe

The wallet has a little cash, a couple of credit cards, and licenses to drive, fish, hunt, fly and fix airplanes, send Morse code through the ether, and carry concealed deadly weapons. Social Security, Medicare, and DD Form 2, US Army retired ID.

On the other hand, you know you are an old soldier when your car keys share space with a P-38 and the key ring is a grenade pin.

A P-51 and a single edge razor blade taped together. If I could fit a chainsaw and a jackhammer in there I would but it's bulky enough as it is.

Driver's license, medical insurance cards, cards for the stents and ICD I have implanted, credit cards, list of medications. I used to carry either $500.00 or a $1,000.00 dollars in the wallet , but haven't been able to do that lately, now it's usually less than $200.00.

Hmm, had to look.

Drivers license, handgun license, debit card, three credit cards, NRA card, Sams Club card, insurance cards, and $53 cash.

Oh, and a bit of lint.

My wallet contains various licenses, proof of insurance, vehicle registrations, membership/credit cards and a bandaid, but no cash.

My WAM (walking around money) is in a money clip that's wrapped with a rubber band and kept in a different pocket.

I also carry a murse when I go to gun shows and estate sales. It contains more serious money, purchase permits, a note pad, a pen, a bore light, a small flashlight and a loupe.

I moved Mrs. Chad's purse off the front seat of my truck the other day so she could get in. HOLY SMOKES... It had to weigh 10 pounds plus!
I haven't a clue what all she's got in there, but I suspect the list of what's NOT in there would be much shorter!!

WE had 4 kids, my wife's "bag" has diapers 10 years after they all had outgrown them. If I ever got hungry I knew there was a snack that would feed 12. Deck of cards. And perhaps the best child entertainment devise ever: a AA Penlight! (watched that settle fussy kids from 1 to 15!)

I've gone backpacking with lighter bags!

Drivers license, CCL, Medicare and Advantage plan cards, one credit card, registration and insurance cards for the motorcycles, and $100 for emergencies. (I keep everyday cash in a money clip in the front pocket.)

Not much after yesterday.

Went and got a hair cut and stopped at Subway for two sandwiches, that
my wife thought would be nice, when I asked her. Ordered a small and medium #1, to go.

I thought their prices were still pretty good.
When I went to pay, the cashier asked a price a lot higher than I expected.

I pointed to the board prices and she told me to look a lot higher........
to the prices that were posted at the very TOP of the board !!

Since I did not have my glasses with me , I just pulled out a $20 and
accepted being old and came home with lunch.

I was disapointed when range manufacturers went to a spread ring too small for a paperclip. I had to use an oxy-acetelene torch cleaning tip.

Over my many years as a welder I accumulated many of those kits. They come in handy for cleaning/opening many other things than cutting/welding torches!-

I had a bowl with about 5-10 of them on the washing machine. Kept leaving them in my pockets.

I hate stuff in my wallet, but Drivers Lic & CCpermit, Two debit & one credit card, no paper money, I think I have my union card but I don't need it, and no medical cards, I just give them my SS# and that works fine. I have a cell phone so any more info I need is in it. I can tell when there's an extra something in my wallet. I hate it when driving. No pictures; I know what my dependents look like. I think I have more pictures of Daisy Dog & Angel than I do those other people in my life, and they're in the phone somewhere.
Any protective devises dry rotted 30 years ago!

A whole bunch of stuff, but I am too lazy to spend the afternoon sorting through and inventorying it all.

The usual, I try to keep it to a minimum.
I had a vinyl folding business card holder, 2 pockets. When beach diving I'd slip my driver's license in the clear pocket, a $20 and laminated medical insurance card. ID if the unthinkable happened but if I drifted up or down the coast a ways I could drop into the pier at one end or a snack shack at the other and buy a munchy and beer for the hike back.

With all the prophylactics mentioned above I gather that some of you plan on wading ashore with your Garands.

Something I keep that I have not seen is spare door keys to my truck and my wife's car. I used to unlock her car after she had locked the keys in it 4-5 times a year. Now were down to once every 4-5 years, even with all the built in safety warnings.

In my old truck I kept a kept a key in a magnetic box stuck to the chassis........NOW all you have to do is call ONSTAR.......Which is kinda scary.

I've got LA Wallet so my Drivers License, hunting license CCW permit are all on my phone. I keep my wallet in my locked glove box in case I need to access the office credit card, my medical insurance cards, casino cards or my frequent flyer card for mamma-son's house of pleasure. I carry my bills my daily use credit card and lottery tickets folded in an office depot binder clip-refuse to use a rubber band like the other old guys
