Although born up north, I was partly raised in the South, my mother's whole family lived in SC, and I have been stationed in the South most of my 25 years in the Navy. Based on that limited experience, I would guess that you are either not a Southerner (don't have typical Southern manners), or you are a drunk looking for a fight.

How close was my guess?

That was directed at me and he is looking for a fight, he has been attacking me personally. I was really ticked off a few days ago but waited to cool down. I guess he won't be happy till there is a full blown fight.

In the past I gave my opinion of NY but never attacked anyone personally. He and another member has been making personal attacks

I was born in Brooklyn, NYC.

That's where I learned how to mind my own business...

Letting what go? I simply stated why I'm glad I don't live somewhere...just like some other people are glad they left New York. No difference.

The "gee whiz I didnt do nuffin" bit dont work for you. Your more the stand and deliver type.

Give it a rest already. Yall got yer backs up over perceived bashing, then ya went and got personal and petty. Quite silly actually. Nothing that was said by the other fellow deserved most of what was said or implied ABOUT him. This thread perpetuates an already lowered standard of behavior.

I ask that YOU rise above and take a higher road...

I consider the coastal SC accent one of the most enjoyable things to listen to. The very idea of a New Yorker from any of the boroughs or LI trying to mimic this makes me almost burst into hysterical laughter.

Talk about trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear..

YMMV

Yeah, right. But the constant "New York sucks" posting is not personal and petty?

I see that you're from Georgia...I'll bet it's beautiful there.

66TAS,

Truth is, sure...there's plenty of other places I'd rather live...but I'm here...and the constant reminder of how much it sucks gets really old.

It could be worse though...I could live in New Jersey.

Uh, no, it is not personal. silvercorvette was talking about the gun laws in New York. Talking about someone's relationship with his mother IS personal.

Maybe you're confused? I did not do that.

I was the one that brought up the fact that the man constantly shows off, or casually "mentions" his latest extravagant acquisitions...paid for by money earned in New York...all the while, bashing New York...pure hypocrisy in my book.

Lets keep the facts straight.

No, I believe it was ladder13 who started talking about elderly parents.

Talking bad about NY, Michigan, etc, doesn't get you accepted in the South. It just shows that the Yankee has a little bit of sense!

I will make a rare post on this board as I have found it has unfortunately deteriated into this type stuff. Why I believe so I'll keep to myself.

Larry (SilverCorvette) has come to the state of South Carolina and found that it has greater freedom for it's citizens. Sorry if that offends you but it is the truth. If you are jealous of the fact that SC has taken care of finances and is able to now buy the toys that you wish you could, but couldn't anyway because of the draconian laws of NY then XXX. I'm assuming in the morning when you sober up (if you ain't drinking then you really have a problem) then I suggest you offer Silver an apology. It is a free country for the time being and someone can move anywhere they want.

I have met Larry and he is an excellent gentleman and someone that we in the deep south will welcome anytime. I remember when he first came he was asking how to handle a apparent problem with a neighbor seemingly a family tragedy. IIRC folks from up north said mind your own business, we here said go knock on the door and ask if there is something he could help with. Sure enough there was a problem and he demonstrated he was a true neighbor.

It is the sign of a true gentleman that he has not responded. The matter with his mother is personal and no one's business.

I fade away again.

I check out the forum every week or so and saw this. For some reason (think I know why) my original post was rejected. I will make a statement once for Larry (SilverCorvette).
He came to South Carolina as a gentleman and for those that are jealous of the fact that he is now in a position to live in a free state (for now) and acquire firearms that some of you can't then what business is it of yours. If he managed his finances to afford nice things then get a life of your own and stop complaining about his. I have seen a whole lot of folks here showing off their goodies. The board has deteriorated into this type of stuff and I think I know why and that is why I have stopped posting.

I have met SilverCorvette and he is a complete gentleman and fits quite well down here in the deep south. It is the type of attitude shown here that leaves a bitter taste in our southern society. He has proven himself by letting his original and only post lie.

As far as his mother, that is his business and no one elses.

I am glad you don't live in South Carolina also. I will now fade away again.

That's funny...I don't think the board has deteriorated at all. It's way better since Lee took it over...at least in my opinion.

I'm starting to see who it is that can't take their own medicine...very amusing.

Thanks Ted, I was just thinking about you a few days ago and was planning on giving you a call, I am looking forward to seeing you again this summer when I drive down to Columbia. I started out writing a rebuttal to the false accusations that were directed toward me, but I am going to take some cool down time before I continue writing and think it over before I hit the post button,

You forgot the part of having to drive behind them 20 miles an hour under the speed limit in the passing lane.
I really feel sorry for the south getting stuck with a bunch of complaining retired carpet baggers.

I spent 4 years of my Marine Corps career in NY, in fact, right down the road from Gordy. I bought my first 5 guns in NY and had it not been for those purchases, I probably wouldn't have a safe full of guns now. I would have gladly stayed in NY for the rest of my career if the Corps would have let me. I didn't like the politics on the 2A side, but I loved the area and the people I met there. I still have some very close friends up there that I keep in touch with. Politics aside, NY has been my favorite state to live in and I may retire from the Corps and move back there to work for Harris Corp in about 6.5 years.

The current state I live in is just a bad as NY, but I don't spend my time bashing it as it doesn't do any good and just agravates folks from here. I deal with the rules governing this state by learning them and obeying them. I have bought two guns here in the last couple of months with no problem other than the blasted 10 prison sentence for the gun once I pay for it.

Ya know, these threads really don't get us anywhere. Everyone can poke fun, but when the tone becomes personal and nasty, it needs to end.

Its what I think we're seeing now with this one.

Ted,
your original post was not rejected, it was trapped in the filter because of a trigger word it contained. The filter works automatically. I don't sit here reading and approving or stopping 10 posts per second! See it edited above.

Not what you told me via email. We have always had some bickering on the board. It is called human nature.
You became offended when I moved a thread from the Lounge that asked a specific S&W gun question. Remember? I have moved many threads since that were posted in the Lounge by newer members, just as I predicted, to the gun forums.

Later, you got very offended when I deleted Caj's "thank you" thread to you, based solely on the language it contained, and NOT because it was for YOU. I would have deleted that thread if it was thanking ME, or anyone else on this board. You can see where Caj and I discussed it here in The Office- http://smith-wessonforum.com/e...590103904/m/66410742

Remember the email you sent me, saying I had treated you like a child, because my answer was not lengthy enough when I moved the gun question, so you would just "bow out"? I sent you what I considered a complete explanation of the whole misunderstanding, and you never replied. I still have the emails, so if you would like a refresher, I can post it all for you.

I think you simply needed a problem, and decided you and I had one.
As I explained to you then, with you having a post count approaching 4000, and us never having tangled, I could not understand how you felt so persecuted......

So, if you like it here, feel free to come by.
If you don't like it here, don't feel free to drop in occasionally and drop vague remarks about "you think you know why" this is happening or that is happening.
