Some of you may remember my thread about the 1917 that I got for $200 that had the nice N frame diamond targets. I was told the grips may be worth what I paid for the whole gun. Member VM advised me to take off those grips and get some others to put on to shoot with. I have admired the work that VM and others have done to old grips and being the type that likes to try things for myself I bought an old pair of N frame targets(they were marked N frame)to refinish for the 1917. These grips looked beat up and had some chips on both sides but it did not matter because I was planning to change them any way. I did not think to take a before picture. I filed off the checkering and sanded them into the shape I wanted and finished them with 2 coats of Tru-oil. Got ready to put them on and they did not fit right. Hum, tried on my 28-2 and they did not fit it either. Marked N frame? but don't fit. Tried them on my 686-1(L frame) and what do you know. They are not up to the great work of VM and some others around here but for a cheap set I think they turned out OK. Now I've got to find a cheap set of real N frames and try it again. Pictures are not too good but I had to hurry.

Thanks for the compliments. The grain really shows up without the checkering.
