I just purchased a 642 today and while reading the manual that came with the revolver it said 1 year limited warranty and no mention of any other warranty. Even the S&W website says Lifetime Warranty. What gives? Thanks for your response. Bill

The lifetime warranty (I do believe) applies in the US. Owners manuals aren't updated as frequently as they should be.

S&W has a "Extended Service Policy" which kicks in after the "One Year Limited Warranty" expires.
