Has anybody tried this? My friends and I tried this this evening and it works pretty good. Can you get in trouble for this?

You can't get in trouble for it.
It does seem to be a waste of ammo though IMO.

I would say you can't get in trouble in the long run, but you could get hassled and lose your guns for a bit if an uneducated cop were around and didn't know what bump fire was. In the end you would get off scott free, but I wouldn't want to try it unless I was in the middle of no where. Plus, it's not like you can aim, so it's essentially a waste of ammo.

I know a guy who can bump fire his AR from the shoulder. Pretty cool trick, but I can't do it.

Sorta fun the first time... a total waste of ammo after that.

yeah its fun and no you didn't modify the gun so no you can't get into trouble but after a few times of dumping 30 rounds at a time your ammo goes poof

I've tried it with an AK type and a M1 carbine, but I can't seem to achieve the technique.

I tried it back when AK ammo was $0.08 and when .308 was $0.14, I could do it easily with the AK and I could even get my FAL to do it. Nowadays I wouldn't even consider it.

Bump firing get you thrown out of our range. Automatic weapons are banned, and the simulated sound of automatic fire will get residents near the range agitated enough to report it to the authorities.
