Thirty years ago, I committed Matrimony!! Jimmah Carter was President and S&W was still producing pinned barreled revolvers. I was farming about 150 acres of row crops, 75 acres of peaches and plums, and fifty acres of irrigated produce. My wife was teaching. She had just finished her Masters' Degree and was making about $10,000 that year. I also had about 125 feeder pigs. They got out about twice a week and sometimes there would be eight or ten on the front porch. I guess the honeymoon officially ended when I ran out of corn and used her teaching check to buy hog feed along about August.
It was the luckiest day of my life. (Not the day I bought hog food, the day I married.) My wife deserves a Purple Heart for putting up with me all these years. Not everybody is fortunate enough to get one like I got.
