“My Rep Gene Taylor is a Blue Dog and am sure he voted Nay.” My advice Sir; trust but verify.

This legislation if approved by the Senate, will be the largest tax ever imposed on the American People. It has nothing to do with climate and everything to do with taxing energy. Since in the end, everything we do or buy uses energy everything will be taxed to a greater or lesser degree. Imagine the result on American industry when electric power costs increase by 40%.

The media spent FAR more time today lamenting the death of Michael Jackson....very little on the Cap & Trade Bill in the House. Other than FOX news.

Everything I've been able to read states we will basically pay +40% more for electricity ........ but it gets better.......expect gas to raise roughly 65%-75%. The price of about EVERYTHING will go up.

We are so screwed!

Evil men desire to take down the United States and they are firmly in control. It's not because they are stupid but because this nation is collectively stupid.

ANY house member, regardless of tenure or committee assignment clout that voted for this atrocity, needs to be thrown under the bus next November. I intend to inform my tower of Jell-o house rep, of same. But it didn't matter when I told him so before the vote. I also expect my states 2 senators (2 bat s**t crazy progressives in skirts) to rubber stamp this and then head off for a photo op' at a Prius dealership. If this does make it through the senate and ends up on the TelePrompTers desk, we are so screwed that we may as well start selecting a new flag. That's how seriously I take this vote...

Are you talking about Republican Dave 'how's my hair' Reichert? He is a two-faced, blowing with the wind, no backbone politician if ever there was one. He voted for this bill, likely because he faces reelection soon and he barely won last time against strong demo opponent. He is trying to appeal to the Seattle greenies that he is Mr. eco climate control. He is not my rep but I gave him a piece of my mind anyway.

No Wayne I got hosed by Rick Larsen. I expected as much considering that "D" was his middle name. The Reichert vote is tough to explain? Perhaps enough of the newer "R"s in Bellevue are getting harped on by their kids over Al Gore's movie that's shown monthly in school? Remember, the leftists said "you've got the country, but we have your children".

That is exactly why more parents need to send their kids to private school or home school. Yes it's expensive but are not your kids and country worth it? Our cost per month is $330 for our daughter. Of course we still have to pay our taxes of another $100 per month to pay for the failing public schools.

Let's just hope there are enough adults in the senate to vote this garbage bill down.

Yea, along with 44 other democraps - seems Nancy Bug Eye Pelosi told them, before the vote, that if they were up for re-election next year that it would be okay to vote NAY to protect themselves. Apparantly she already knew she had 8 RINO's in the bag to vote for the bill. Let me assure you that none of them cared a damn about any of us. Vote em all out.

Where to start? This **** is long out of hand and started many years ago. I think the toughest of us probley has got dumbed down and to a large extendt even got somewhat politicaly correct for the last 45 years just by haveing it around us and shoved at us daily!
In my view the big push has been since kennedy, but it might have been even longer and I am only 68 years old. I belive the founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves!
Yet I still belive that while we have been outvoted, that is NOT a true indicater of how MOST americans belive. The average citizen that is a working stiff is just not as passionate as all the special intrest groups are. Besides the left liberals, I am talking about the gay rights, women pro choice, the green wieenee`s etc. Average joe is working his butt off, and many dont bother voteing. You can bet your last cent every special intrest group and minorites DO vote!
I honestly belive just about every politican there is, is unethical and power driven or they wouldnt even want the job to start with. They are always going to take the view that they think is going to keep them in power, whats really right is far down the list. They listen to the loudest and who donates the most. Most of us old school are in the far minority. Just a age turnover thing. The schools have been brainwashing the youth to socialism, PC, morales have been attacked, just about since I graduated high school in 1958.
I dont know if it will ever turn around or not. Somehow I think it might be best that the left try to move too quickly and maybe the populace might get a belly full.
The brainwashed young is the ones voteing these people in.
I can understand bad people, corrupt politicans, greedy people or anykind of people. What I cant understand is the ammount of groupies, weak minded, moralely dumb people that keep these people in power! That is what amazes me!

Well North Carolina voted 7 to 6 against. Fortunately my representative voted against. We can only hope that the Senate kills this before it is too late.

I didn't even have to look at the link to know that my states two "follow the party line no matter what" reps voted for this. They have no fear of being voted out of office, because the idiots in this state keep voting democrat "no matter what"!

It's infuriating!!!

Well, today I got a response from my congresscreature. It involved 3 pages of single spaced B/S that was exceeded in it's vagueness, only by it's nebulousness as to means and methodologies. About how "green jobs" would be financed by it. Of course Spain, (the only country to go nearly as whole hog as our wing nuts now want us to do) has found it nothing but an expensive white water rafting trip with lot's of rocks. And they who've broken their treasury and economy on it are now about to be our chief suppliers of the technology and engineering that has wrecked their economy. So we can do so to to ours! Now there, is an ally! I brought up how the taxes begin modestly in 2013' (a year AFTER the presidential election, a coincidence I'm sure) and then reach escape velocity on anything with 2 molecules of carbon to rub together in 2017'-2025'. Coal, electricity, natural gas, gasoline, fire wood, the works. No response. I also asked how many green house gasses the 200 nuke plants we'll need, in order to produce the currently running but about to taxed out of existence coal/natural gas fired units. Again, no response. In fairness, that last one was a trick question because nuclear plants emit ZERO anything. Only some more of the hope and change crock, that "new technologies" (as yet not contemplated nor invented) will save the day for us?
I'm truly beginning to wonder if it is we who are stupid enough to fall for this. Or, if it's our elected representatives who are so profoundly clueless as to not be able to figure out how to pour piss out of a boot with the instructions printed on the heel!
Good God! We're being led around by our collective noses, by a batch of village idiots that still believe in "utopias" regardless of the 5,000 years of human history shrieking in their ear otherwise? Liberalism IS a mental disorder! And the inmates now not only have the keys, but the check book and printing presses to make more with?
All who voted for this bill must be fired in November of 2010'. It's now our only hope. Because now none are seemingly capable of rational thought.

I'll bet all those Edisons, Teslas, and Westinghouse's are just lined up and salivating at the prospect of enjoying the fruits of their geniuses; all for the greater green glory of it with profits (of course) being cheerfully donating to the obamanation. Maybe there will be a movie of it someday; virtual reality, of course. Or, maybe we'll wake up when the lights go out. -S2

Let us hope that Senators are smarter than representatives and can see what this legislation will do to America. Now, and up until voting time is the time to pressure your Senators . Let them know what this legislation will do to America.
Just what is cap and trade supposed to do, anyway, besides turning America into developing nation stature! This policy is driven by politics, not the independent thinking, speaking, of scientists who can not agree if there is actually a problem. This country was built on energy and runs on energy.
Much of the mess we find ourselves in could be resolved with an energy policy that would include drilling and nuclear. Instead, we have a policy of a tire gauge and hot air.
Wake up, America.

Just E-mailed both of my Senators, Cochran and Wicker.

Asked them straight out

How are you going to vote on the Cap and Trade Bill coming to the Senate?

Yea or Nay

I would like the politicians to attempt to first explain with proof why they even belive the BS, then I would like them to attempt to show me a spread sheet as to just how they want to go about pouring money into it, then show me exactly how it is suppose to "fix" the problem and exactly how they plan to get the money back. I would bet not one can 1 percent convince me! In fact I bet there isnt one that understands the plan or read what I just proposed! I also bet not one has availed himself to even scan or speed read the proposals. They all should be ran out on a rail and tar and feathered!

Yesterday I emailed, faxed, snail mailed, and called my two senators about the upcoming vote on this thing. Received a reply from senator Maria Can'tvotewell this morning. A lengthy 7 paragraph boilerplate letter detailing all she has done for the environment over the last 4 years and how we are all going to die if the environment is not saved... blah blah blah. Not once addressing the subject of my communication.

And around and around we go.

It's getting close to time for them to find out just why our forefathers foresaw the need to put the 2nd amendment in place!! Only thing is the founders didn't take into account that the citizens of this country would overall become a bunch sniveling cowards to afraid to defend themselves by the time there came a need for the 2nd amendment.

Well said. A great many people in this country are completely in the dark about what's going on around them, and do not want to know. They want to go to the beauty salon, the golf course and the mall. They think that nothing will ever change the way of life that they have grown accustomed to. A big surprise coming just over the horizon for them. It may be too late by the time they open their eyes.

I continually say to everyone who currently bitches about the economy, "How's that hope and change working out for you?"

I get some dirty looks, but they don't have much to say. Wonder why?
