I have seen less coverage when presidents die! From MY view what we have here is a druggie, weirdo, accused child molester that is worshiped more than the lord! I can live and let live many weirdos, corrupt politicans, or whatever else type people. What I do have a hard time with is the idiots that idolise them, give them power through voteing them in or puchaseing their products. You are always going to have these type people, but worshiping them is makeing us one over on soddom and gamorra!

Default I've had a change of heart...

When Michael Jackson died, I heard and repeated several of the jokes I heard.

I regret that.

Sure, he was strange, but I think it's not my job to judge Michael Jackson for what he may or may not have done.

Somebody else will do that.

I don't usually comment on threads like this, but the hoopla over Michael Jackson pretty much chaps my butt. So here's my take:

Michael Jackson made bad choices and paid for them with his life.
My admiration is for those who made the RIGHT choice to serve their country and paid for it with their lives.
They deserve a respect which the Michael Jackson's of this world will never earn.

To respect talent is one thing, but I have never understood how masses think the world is coming to an end when a celebrity dies. MJ will be remembered by some much different than others, but he is still just a entertainer.

+1 JayCeeNC and all the others that have died who were just good people helping others.

I continue to be stunned by the attention that the 'black community' bestows on a guy that clearly loathed his own race.

Michael and the family have always been master manipulators of public opinion.

I don't AT ALL get the way the city of LA rolls over for the wishes of the family and so freely funds Michael's 'get away' concert.

I guess it's somewhat understandable when you realize that it's only a week or two before we (the US taxpayers) pick up, or guarantee, every expense having to do with California.

It also amazes me that Michael spent his whole life trying to turn into a white man, and now appears to have been spending a lot of effort and money to turn his blonde kids into kids that look like they might have REALLY had a black father.

Titan, I must respectfully disagree. To my eyes, it appears that he was doing his best to become a teenage Asian girl.

Question

If he did half of the drugs he was reported to be using, I think that would seriously deplete his decision making processes.

To echo the above thought... Below are the 'top stories' now running on CNN... Notice the story that came in last. Of course, all of this is below MJ pictures, MJ lead story and MJ breaking news.

If I were one of the families of our slain heroes, I would be outraged.

Yup.... "CNN: The most trusted name in news"

Who's Michael Jackson? One of the Great Lessons of Life I have learned is the Fine Art of Tuning Out. Michael Jackson, Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett were all on my List of People I Pay No Attention To. I am more interested in the passing of Joe Bowman, I saw him here in NJ in the 1980s.

Ditto, All the news clips I've seen had a distinct lack of cultural diversity, more like the NAACP image awards, complete will Al Sharpton.

When Farrah got to the pearly gates, St. Peter asked if there was anything special she wanted. She said she would like for little children around the world to be safe. BAM! Michael Jackson dies!

I got a kick out of it when I seen that jamie fox spouting off that the "blacks" laid claim to jackson and that they "gave" him to us! (or similar words). Thats okay with me! If he was white I think I would feel some shame! Can you imagine what would have been the reaction had someone pointed out that Elvis was "white" and what a favor we were doing by letting the black community enjoy him?

This was a circus, complete with clowns (Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton). Their act shows up at all events which give them media attention. It is truly sad that the feeble minded celebrity worshipers go along with all this nonsense and overlook what is right in front of their nose, a drug using, child molesting freak.

All this reminds me of a joke my dad told me close to 60 years ago.
This rich black guy died. Per his instructions he was buried in his black cadillac. As he and the car was being lowered in the huge hole, he was sitting upright with a stogie in his mouth, a black guy elbowed another and said, Man, thats liveing!

Now Ed McMahon-guy was a high up Marine so I give him a tip of my hat,he had a high up thing for TV during the Korean war and he skipped it and went to train Marine pilots in FL I've read so his stuff was set right.

what really fries my potato is the never ending playing of that song, whatever it is.
Did Jerry Garcia get this kind of coverage? No and you know why not?? Because he was......a guitar player. Wait and see what happens when Keith Richards dies. Do you thing he is going to get a memoprial send off at the staples center???? Do you think they are going to keep him above ground for 12 days gettin ripe before they bury him??? Heck no-and you know why?????? He's a guitar player.

Cool Guitar players

I didn't hear anything from the media when Roy Buchanan died. MJ would have to stand on his daddy's shoulders to kiss Roy's ---!

I have all my fingers and toes crossed in hopes that we don't have to endure this again, when tragedy befalls Madonna, another 'giant' of the entertainment industry!

I draw comfort only from the fact that race won't be involved and suspect that Madonna's family are not the master media manipulators and race baiters that the Jacksons are.

I was also amazed at the coverage by the media. There was actually a guy who I work with that took yesterday off because he was to distraught and needed to mourn. But I do feel really bad for Michael's children and the Jackson family. Especially those children, their lives have been turned upside down.

Those kids' lives were turned upside down from the moment he took custody of them.

Kids lose their parents every day and parents who are a lot better at "parenting" than he was.

Angry LA City!

One of my pet peeves is hot the city of LA is now asking for donations to help pay for the memorial, I think its in the tune of $8million. They said how they couldn't really afford the service, but they went through with it anyways and now after the fact if someone with lots of money could donate some cash to help out the city. That is BULL if they couldn't have afforded it they should have said that it needed to be paid for upfront. And I think the family should have to pay for it. I have to have to pay for my families ceremonies why shouldn't they??? If I was Arnold I would get up in the Mayor or whoever let the ceremony go on without it being paid for upfront, that is why a lot of states are in financial trouble.

Caj, if it will make you feel any better, I for one will be in mourning when Keith Richards dies. Greatest rock & roll guitar player of all time. Don't even try to tell me different.

Back to the pervert. There is more to this than what us old farts know. My daughter came over to dinner last night and told me she cried all day watching the funeral. She grew up with his music. This is a died in the wool conservative gal, probably the only one in Missouri under 25 that voted for McCain. She was really devastated. Don't ask me, I don't get it.

I believe he is also used by the media as a diversion from the real issues. Cap & Trade, Health reform and all of the other efforts being made to drive us into Socialism.

I agree completely with you, but it's just more of the same.

LA and California have been mandating costs and paying for things they couldn't afford for decades. They're comfort comes from two things...
...the fact that it seems like the right thing to do
...the US taxpayers will bail them out if it all goes to *****

Don't expect a lot of 'donations', you and I (and all the rest of the US taxpayers) are on our way with our wallets open.

BTW, the city wasn't about to say no to the Jackson family...that would have been racist.

I agree Barb.

Hopefully it's not too late for the kids to learn that 'parents' are usually grown ups (and what that means).

Unfortunately if they stay close to the Jackson influence, you can be fairly sure they'll never develop normally, will get thrust into some aspect of show business, and will be milked for everything they're worth, over their lifetimes.
