What's with the Squirrels?
In the morning I sit for a while drinking coffee and look out the window at a large Oak tree. Every day without fail, the Eastern Gray Squirrels ( some folks prefer Tree Rats) are frolicking around in a group of 3 to 4.
So are they just happy it's morning and playing or are they doing the deed and making baby squirrels?
I was going ask my mother but am embarrassed

They're playing.
We have a nest in one of our trees and the three brothers often play and chase each other around.

Squirrels are most active early morning and evening. There's a group of them in my front yard every day. Same squirrels, different day. Easy to tell two of them from others. One has an all white tail and one has just a stub of a tail. The one with the white tail seems to get picked on by the others.

Great pics, they are alot of fun.
You probably are aware, but incase your not.
They do carry round worm almost always. You better worm Bear every 6 months. I found out the hard way with my dogs from the ones in our backyard.

Speaking of squirrels. Back many MANY years ago in Michigan, I used to see the black phase of gray squirrels. They were jet black. Haven't seen one in years. Anyone see any?

Yep. We have black squirrels, red squirrels and half black/half red squirrels. Some of the mixed ones are really funny looking. They look like someone played Frankenstein with them and sewed the front half of one color on the back half of the other color.
Others have their tail of the opposite color.

Thanks. Nice to know they're still around. Wonder what we'd get if we crossed one of your half & halfs with the one in my yard with the pure white tail? Red, white and black squirrel?

Tree rats are getting more of my tomatoes than I am and they got all my apples.
I'm gonna pop for the electric fence for the tomatoes. They can have the apples.
Take a nearly empty peanut butter jar and toss it in the yard. It's hilarious watching the little beggars rolling around with their head stuck in the jar trying to get the treasure.

You won't think they are so cute when they get in the attic, or start chewing up the wiring on your car, or start building nests and having little squirrels in the walls of your house.
Me and my neighbors have declared war on them. We have shot a dozen or more in the last month or so. One friend who lives in another state told me he had killed 72 in his yard last year. He uses a powerful pellet gun. We are all country folks in my little subdivision, so no one gets excited when they hear a shotgun blast.
I don't mean to put a damper on the festivities here, but my experiences with the little yard vermin have all been bad. It's a different story in the woods.

That is just the coolest looking house.!
All we have here are little square boxes all painted beige with two palm trees in the front
On the third picture with water wheel is there a room up top?? If so can I come and live up there. I have Troll experience after living in Mt Horeb WI.
All those critters and such a nice home, you are blessed.

Landpimp,
Exceptional pictures!!! I love it! We have a similar situation with the squirrels here, as they will come a running if we open one of the big slider windows...."gonna get me sum peanuts and grapes" We have about 10 or so now, but Momma just hatched another batch someplace. I have two that will come and eat out of my hand also. Now I don't feel so crazy naming the dang squirrels...when I told my husband I could tell the difference in them, he laughed like no tomorrow. So then he says "HOW??" Well of course, mostly their facial features. LOL. He laughed even harder. The next time we got together with his family he told them this facial feature bit -- talk about massive laughter from all of them.
It is a hoot when two or three of them start playing, tackling and rolling each other.
