Then 'conservative hippies' must have made you laugh. Except that there's at least one guy out there on the book circuit pushing the 'liberal fascist' malarkey with a straight face.

It goes to show all you have to do to skew any dialogue is convince someone to write a book and in no time their nonsense turns up on internet forums as a reliable source.

"As far as fat and CO2 go, we won't evolve to tolerate fat, it may be that fat toleraters (if that is a word) will be selected for. But I doubt that as people that can't tolerate it still live long enough to reproduce.

As for CO2, that will never happen, there is no energy in that molecule. Plants don't breath it, they use the sun's energy to split it and make sugar which they use just like we do."

Not so fast! We'll never evolve to tolerate fat and breathe CO2? It was just a few eons ago that they said we'd never grow legs, walk on land, and breathe air! If you truly believe in evolution, anything is possible!

Can you prove that scientifically or do you take it on faith?

And why in the world anyone would think of economics as a science in the same sense as biology, chemistry and physics is a mystery to me, but I recognize that making my living as a scientist (biologist, but not evolutionary biologist) for the last 40 years probably prejudices my view on that.
I'll take some exception to your statement.

Economics is a mathematical science, since the causes and effects within its realm, are directly observable. Actions within the realm follow prescribed protocols, and those actions are predictable by formulae.

The very basic laws, supply and demand, do not vary. Low supply drives higher prices over fixed supplies, e.g.

I don't dismiss human interaction as having very short-term effects on markets, since things like money supply can be manipulated at times. But, over time, markets act in mathematical terms.

John Nash, one of the co-recipients of the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in economics, holds a doctorate in mathematics.

Dennis: Well said. I think the problem comes when POLITICIANS try to make economics their own "art," instead of recognizing that it is a mathematical and behavioral science. No matter how often they try to pass the legislation, 2 + 2 will not equal 5!
