Harrington & Richardson 922, 9 Shot .22 Pistol

Bought it in 1979 at a Combination Dry Cleaners / Gun Shop
in Western Massachusetts

My first gun was a S&W 4006. A great shooter. I have pictures but we all know what they look like. The cool part is that in the real world I go by the initials JD, I get my gun and it has the serial number VJDXXXX.

My very first was a S&W top break in .38 S&W when I was 14. It taught me the virtue of a good bore which this piece did not have. It was quickly followed by a 1934 Beretta which taught me how weak a .32 ACP was. In my 16th year, I did better and got a reak gun; S&W 6" M&P .38 special. Lord, I wish I still had it.

Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk .44 that I claimed from Dad's selection. It's on my hip every fall.

My first purchase was a Kel-Tec P3AT, followed by an M&P40c a month or two later. Yep, I'm a youngon.

Iver Johnson top-break .32 that self-opened the first time I shot it. The dealer, Sparky Fulmer, gave me my $6.00 back.

The first one I actually owned was a 4" S&W M10 pencil barrel. If I recall correctly, I think I paid $35 for it in 1970.

My first was a Ruger Redhawk in 44, 7.5" barrel. I still have it.
It has a Bowen rear sight now, action job by SSK, magnapoting and is dressed in Herrett's Jordan Troopers. (first Herrett's I ever had)

I came to my senses after this and bought mostly S&W's for awhile.

First pistol was a Ruger P-89DC w/15rd mags. Its a great shooter, but not a good concealed weapon. So I went down to the "funshop" in 1991 or 1992 and bought my S&W 3913 and was hooked ever since.

1982 , blued Ruger Security-Six. Six inch barrel. Paid $229 new in box. Wish I still had the box. Still have the gun. It's still as tight and accurate as it was then.

S&W Mod. 10-I don't remember,Six in Barrel. Purchased with money from putting up hay that summer. I bought this new from a local discount house for $86.00. It was 1967 and I went in and paid the clerk for the gun and a box of ammo while my mother sat in the car waiting. I was 12 years old. Couldn't do that now.

Mine was a Ruger Single Six convertible purchased from WalMart when they still sold handguns. It resides in my safe, still in the box.

A four inch Model 28. I wish I still had it, but I was my college roomate's best man and too poor to afford a wedding gift, so I gave it to him. Steve Guse, if you Google your name and see this I'd trade you a plasma TV for it.

Was a Hawes replica Colt 1851 Navy that I shot the living piss out of until I broke a bolt stop. Swapped it for my 1st modern handgun a Spanish Gaurate Anitua 32acp #8888. Owned several Colts and Rugers until I bought my 1st brand new gun, which you have all seen, a Smith 29-3 (also my 1st 44mag) which I still have and has been extremely modified.

I believe I ordered my first handgun, this S&W Model 57, in '82 or '83.
I'd have to check the box for the receipt to be sure, but the box is about six feet back and four feet down in the back of a closet.

'71 Mauser HSc .380, bought new with the help of Mom & Dad, I was only 20. It served as my HD pistol @ my off-base apartment.

A couple years later used it as my first LEO duty gun while working U/C Narcotics. Later, it served as a BUG to my issue S&W M10 in Uniform Patrol and Off-Duty as well.

Mine was a Ruger Old Army black powder revolver in stainless steel. Purchased just outside of Fort Bragg in the 1970's. We used Brylcreem, Vaseline and Crisco to cover the bullets to prevent chain firing and made percussion caps from aluminum beer cans and toy caps. It was a hoot to shoot.

A Mk VI .455 Webley in 1963, $14.95 & $2.95 S&H, out of "American Rifleman" mag.

Well, if you count the one that my wife lets me use, that's a Registered Magnum. The first one I bought myself, after using the Registered Magnum, was a Model 22A.

What can I say, she's got more class than I do.

Lost in the 50s

First handgun was a Hawes 5-1/2" .22 single action cowboy gun. Bought it when I was about 17 off of a good friend and got the gun and Buscadero belt/holster for 20 bucks. First centerfire handgun was a S&W M-39 I bought in college around 1979 at the Tulsa Wannamacher Gunshow for a bit over $250.

FEG in 380. Actually still have it.

It is a S&W .38 top break 3rd Model. Not much nickle left but shootable. Still have the darn thing after paying 5 bucks in 1947.

My story is identical to Denver Dick's. Dirty Harry came out in 1971 and I turned 21 in January '72. That's when the search began for the elusive Model 29, which turned out to be found NOWHERE by me. My first S&W was bought a few months later. It was exactly like the one pictured on reerc's post, a Model 19 6". They both were tack drivers.

6" Model 17-3, got it when I was 12 or 13. Still have it.

January 1991 - I was 22 and had just received my licence after an 8 month wait (6 month club probation + 2 month processing of application). Used a big chunk of savings £540 ($800?) to buy a 6 inch satin stainless Colt Python (wanted the nice & shiny ultimate but was too impatient to wait for them to get one in).

Not sure whether it was ever right - after a couple of years it would bind after 10-15 shots after being cleaned. Traded it for a 686.

In 1975, I think, I bought a Stoeger .22 Luger from a friend for $25. Little gun functioned pretty well. I sold it to another friend about 12years later. I wish I still had it.

I'll admit it my first handgun was a Ruger P-85. The first handgun I shot was S&W Model 19 my father owned.

First handgun was a new Ruger Single 6 in 1971 when I came home on leave while in the air force to get divorced. The best $40 I ever spent until 1976 when the Single 6 was traded for a Ruger Mark 1 target pistol. Kept the Mark 1 until 1981 when a Minneapolis sporting goods store got out of the evil handgun selling business.

Sold the Mark 1 to a buddy and promptly bought a 5-1/2" Model 41 for the amazing sum of $300, my first S&W. I remember being told that was ~$35 less than current dealer cost. Eventually had a Beuhler scope mount and Luepold 2X pistol scope mounted on the barrel. I still have the M 41.

My first handgun was a Colt New Frontier in .22lr.
I bought it in 1980 when I was 16 for $125 from my high school science teacher! He actually said in front of the class that he was leaving town and had some guns to sell. The next day we did the deal after class and I kept it in my locker for the rest of the day. In today's world we'd both go to jail.
My first centerfire was a 6" Colt Python that I purchased the following summer. I had $400 from an entire month's wages, the Python cost $395 and the dealer threw in a box of shells.
I still have them both.

I don't have it any longer, but my first handgun was a 4" blue .38 special Colt Diamondback.

Ruger SuperBearcat, 22 caliber. Still have it.

My first handgun was a short barrel Ruger Standard Auto, back in 1978. It is still here. I put a lot of ammo through that gun in the first couple of years I owned it.

Mine was a 1939 Luger ($35.00) I bought in 1961 at age 13. There was one question for the purchase. "Does your daddy know you're getting this?" He did when I got home and showed it to him. Next up was a model 10 4" ($75.00 NIB) pencil barrel a few days before 7/1/69. That was when I started as a LEO at the tender age of 21. I wish I still had both but I don't. I've made up for it since then.

My first was a Dan Wesson .357 six inch that I bought new in 1975. As others have said, I wish I still had it.

The first gun I bought because I realy wanted a particular gun was a Colt Commander in about 1978. I thought my wife would kill me but she didn't seem to mind the $285 price.
