Unhappy PA gun shop owner shot.

Ted Warholic, the owner of Bill's Sporting Goods in Scranton PA was shot in his shop yesterday. He was showing a customer a gun when the firearm discharged. Warholic was shot in the chest and died at the scene. There were others in the shop, but nobody else was hurt.

The Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office is trying to determine if not the shooting was accidental or not.

Very sad. He was a good guy.

Did anything describe who was holding the weapon at the time, or what type it was?

I haven't been able to tell from the news if the owner or the customer was holding it or what type.

I'll be watching the news tonight though hoping for an update.

Regardless of who was holding the gun that's a terrible thing to hear about! I just hope his family can make it though this awful nightmare.

Why was he "showing a customer" a loaded gun? Wow!

Be safe.

It is not yet clear that he was showing it. I know people that frequented the shop. They said that he was pretty anal about checking.

Gotcha...quote was from the OP.

Be safe.

PS: Had quals yesterday...instructors were unwavering and relentless regarding safety checks in classroom and on range. More re: my quals soon...

Ted will be missed. He was a great guy and very highly thought of by everyone who knew him.

He was killed with a .357 magnum revolver.

I waited over 2 hours in line last night at the Funeral Home to pay my respect. 2 hours well spent in my book to pay respect to a GOOD man. He will be missed.
