My wife wants to shoot.

She does not like my S&W 41. I told her I would get her any
.22 she liked.
She liked this one the best (the Walther). I read good and bad about them. I have a lot of respect for the folks in this forum and just wanted your opinion.

I don't own one, but when I took my mother-in-law shopping for a handgun, that's the only one she could handle comfortably. She couldn't pull the trigger on the revolvers, and she couldn't rack the slide on any of the other semi-autos. But she can handle this one with ease.

I've shot hers, and I must say I like it. I think your wife will as well. If you can, rent one first and see how she likes it. Thats what we did.

I have one and it seems fine, It has always gone bang.
There were some that the slide cracked but that was early on in construction, The newer offerings should be just fine.
They are a little odd to take apart, But then again is the Ruger MKlls which are also fine offerings.
About the same price too.

There were problems with the magazines in the early the P-22's history, pretty much long since remedied.

My wife loves her's. It loves CCI Stingers and she's a crack shot with it.

I've had one for a couple years now. A little picky on ammo but I found it digests Rem Thunderbolt and CCI mimi mag without a hitch.

A great small gun to start out a new shooter.

I love mine. It gets a steady diet of CCI Mini Mags and Federal Bulk pack ammo and does well. My wife used it to qualify for her CCW and outshot all the guys in the class. I've got the longer barrel and it's more accurate than I am.

I like mine as well. I shoot mostly federal bulk pack. It took me 5 months to get magazines from S&W. When money gets tight I shoot Steel Challenge matches with it. It has been trouble free.

I like mine. It does lead real bad with Thunder Bolts, but very accurate if cleaned often. I have switched to plated bullets and that fixed the leading. Also I tried Stingers but it jammed alot.

I'd love to get one, but can't justify dropping $200 to $250 on one right now.

I have the carbon fiber P22 ... and wouldn't sell it for the world. One of the best semis I have ever owned. I won't let my wife shoot it because I know I would never get it back. Plus, you have S&W ready to do any repair work should it ever been necessary. I've only fed it CCI and after around 500 rounds, I have never had a jam or misfire.

I have one. It's a great little plinker. Very ergonomic and easy to shoot.

I have the "Military" version. Green

It is a fun gun and great plinker. It is not a target gun, I wish it was a bit more accurate but I have other 22's for that. It has a great trigger and if you can afford Stingers it loves that. I have found the cheap Remington Golden bullets work great in it.

Got one.
I bought 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mags for it.
I had two stove pipes (the round jammed at an angle going into the breach?) out of the first magazine, but all other 88 rounds were fine.
She shot 2 magazines out of it and I shot the rest! Fun gun.
It is kind of like buying a bowling ball for my wife... I am sure she'll use it a few times, but I will use it the most.

Local Wal-Mart has TONS of Federal 550 Round Value Packs.
I checked for months with no luck, and all of a sudden, boom!
Even had tons of .40 S&W and 9mm.
Thanks all law enforcement and military.
My cousin is in Afghanistan right now.

I also have the mock carbon-fiber model. I've already 'lost' mine to my wife who says it's her favorite gun in the whole collection.

My married daughter also went out and got one. They're a blast to shoot, and women seem to love the smaller size.

My wife picked a Walther P22 out of everything the LGS had at the time, took it to the range and now only allows me to touch it when she wants it cleaned !

She decided it is her "go to" SD gun in the house and I'm of the opinion she is better off with what she is comfortable with and will use than some other better caliber that she won't use.

Did have an issue with the barrel (she has the 3.4" barrel) coming loose after a couple of boxes of ammo, it does affect accuracy !!!!

It will shoot most anything with zero problems but for home use she keeps the "Velocitator" rounds in it, if I remember right it is a 40 grain bullet at 1400 FPS.

I know I am digging up an old thread here, but I am researching these pistols and I thought I would mention for anyone else that digs this thread up later that the slides are made out of cast zink, just like the old die cast cars. For what it is worth.

Is cast zinc weak or something?

i must be missing something here, my hunting buddy bought one of these and i can shoot it out to about 40 yards with no problems. we shot at a target from 75 yards just to mess around on a sheet of plywood and missed by about 3'. 3' for a 22 pistol at 75 yards is nothing to snuff at. i love these little guns.

Once again, can someone tell me if cast zinc is bad? The gun was accurate enough for me.

My nephew, 13 years old, came out last week and wanted to learn to shoot. I started him out with the P-22 and had him try several others also but he liked the P-22 so well he kept going back to it. It's a great little training gun.

I have one and have put 500+ rounds through it, all CCI mini mags and have cleaned it once in five outings. I have not had any failures what so ever....... I plan on trying some fdifferent ammo to see what happens. Not bad for a couple hundred bucks. Also, mine has been VERY accurate. I can put all 10 in a real tight group...

I have 3 p22 1 with the fake porting and 2 short versions. I can truely say it is the only gun I have brought home that my wife has asked if I bought it for her. The very first one I saw had a silencer on it that was just too cool. I bought her a black one of the short versions that she carries fishing. about 2 years later I traded a 10-22 for a olive green one well she wanted the green one so now I have 2 black p22. looks like a batman gun. but I really like mine and hers. I took the children shooting at the range and they really liked it also that and the 617. Doeboy
