Default Considering Some custom Work at Novak

I just started carrying a 3913 and I like the slim little 9 mm. I am thinking of sending it off to Novak's for their wider notch, plain black rear sight and a red fiber optic front sight. I have this combo on one of my glocks (Dawson FO front and Warren Tactical Sevigny Carry rear) and I really like it.

Here is the real question. What Novak custom work have you had done on your third gen pistols and can you post pictures (of the stuff that's visible like carry bevel job, coatings and bead blasting, checkering, etc.)?

I am considering a carry bevel job, reliability package, and trigger package in addition to the sights. I also want the right side safety / decocker removed. Not sure if a bevel carry job is really necessary on what is already a seemingly smooth pistol. Their web site states they only use factory springs, so (for those who have had it done) how do you like the trigger job?

All comments and photos appreciated.

A friend worked with Novak and said the work is first class and inspected carefully before it leaves the shop.

When you say "beveling" are you referring to "melting" the pistol? Taking off the sharpe or rough edges? If so, it is well worth it.

I have melted several of my pistols ( simple thing, polish off the stuff which hurts ) and had them refinished. Makes a world of difference when carrying.

Good luck.

I've never had anything except sight installations done by them. But when those were being done even though it was just the slide not the whole gun, the sight regulation was dead on. No mars or damage. I REALLY like their wide notch rear! It sounds like your set up will work well! Take pictures if you can please!

I had then put in a green front and the wider 2 dot rear sights...also had them adjust the trigger action, both single and double felt much better...oh it was on my 4566. Been awhile since they did all that and I don't remember the cost but it seemed reasonable. That front green fiber optic really works well for me...

I don't even remember how many carry pieces Wayne or his crew have done for me....All have been first rate...The late Joe Bonner who worked for Wayne was a Jewell. I consider Wayne a friend so I might be biased but I never let friendship come between a life saving piece of equipment especially since it was my life...I never doubted one thing he did to my pistols. I use no one but Wayne and Actions by T, I am 70 now and still here. Call him and ask what should be done, and then listen. He won't try to over sell you especially on a duty or self defense weapon...There are race and target guns, then there are duty guns. One is for safety and one is for fun...On the two occasions I had to use my pistol I expected it to go BANG not click. I also expected it to FEED not stovepipe or hang up. I was never disappointed. Enough said...

I can vouch for the Novak trigger job, had it done on a 4516... best investment I've made on it. Novak is no stranger to S&W 3rd gen pistols... it's my understanding that Wayne Novak consulted with S&W on their development of the 3rd gen enhancements, so they know their stuff.

I had Wayne do a 645 for me. Complete action job, Novak sights of course, and he fit a 4516 upper to the 645 grame and so I have a really short barrel 645, he also made the trigger guard into the 4506 round configuration so I can find holsters easier. I love the big tank and it shoots scary accurate-thanks to Wayne for that also. He has done 3 Browning HPs for me and a Colt Gov' 380, and he did a Remington 870(he started on shotguns aas a youth). Everything was spot on, oops, forgot to mention he does wheelguns also, my 625 to be exact, great action job and a front night sight.
I would receommend him for anything he says he can do.

Years ago I purchased a used 4506 from a guy that had it Novak'd. It was so nice it made any factory gun I handled after that feel inferior.

It had the carry bevel job, reliability package, and trigger done. I bought a 745 and kind of lost the love for the 4506 and sold it, therefore no pics.
