Default Original Model 66 box and Manual value?

I was going through some old boxes that came in a package deal and came across an original model 66 (357 Combat Magnum)box with instruction manual. Its for a 4 inch gun in Stainless.. Serial number 2K53234...
Two questions:
#1 Whats the best way to clean these up? Its got a litlle mildew on it from sitting.
#2 Whats is worth? Its in good shape as far as being sound, but it does have a touch of Mildew, and the lettering on the box is a bit faded with age. The manual is in great shape.
Any help would be great.

Do you have any idea what happened to the 66 that came in the box? Is it a silver or a blue box? Does it have Mod. 19 or Mod. 66 literature? I believe the 66-0's with all stainless sights, the original box and tools are becoming more collectible every day.

I don't know if these issues apply to your ser. # range, but if they do your box could be significant to the current owner of the pistol.... I think I'd be actively looking for the gun..... JMHO.

I had been looking for and have found a "correct" box for a 14-4. I picked the gun up the other day with a mismatched box. I was willing to pay a bit more 'cuz this particular box says model 14 & K-38 Masterpiece.

I found them going for $35.00-$60.00 on ebay and Gun Broker

I don't know that I'd be to aggressive with any mildew removal --the cure might be worse than the problem - especially if the mildew removal took some of the box finish off.

good luck
Ronnie

the box will wipe off fairly easy, windex or such works for us, heck even a bit of Murphys' Oil soap, and wring out the rag real good.....wipe it all off and let it dry....the boxes around here run in the $20-35 range and the manual around $10 or so, seen them less and seen them more..less at the shows, more on the internet....the cleaning kits, if with the "driver" (sight adjustment tool) will run up to $15-20....so all in all, a good "package"....the 66 models box size usually fits any of the 4in "K" frame guns, that may have come with the over sized target grips, as they are a bit wider.
