Question Yet another Date Question

Howdy Folks...I am considering a trade for a M28 6" with a serial number that starts off as S294.... It is in reasonably good condition(90%+/-). Any thoughts on trade value would be appreciated...

Oh, and am looking at another trade of a 686 snub for a shooter grade 1917. Maybe 85-90% condition. The 686-3 is in 99% condition. What say you on that?...Thanks, Frizz

Hi Frizz,

Looks like shipping date of 1967-1968 (probably '67) on the M28. As to value - my guess is $400 - give or take $25.

Hi, I agree with the value of the model 28 from skeezix. As far as the 686-3 for the 1917, my personal opinion is the 1917 is probably worth a little more than the 686, but that may just be my bias for historical over modern guns. As usual, I am happy to read opposing viewpoints.

Smile officerThanks

Thank you for the replies guys. Yes, the 1917 appeals to me because the uncle who raised my mother after her parents died brought one back from the Great War where he had served as an artillery. He carried that big revolver off and on the rest of his life. The gun was sold or pawned by his son after he died. I would like to have one to shoot and not to be a safe queen...
