Default 629-4 Mountain Gun

I bought one of these in Texas about 1997 or so, with box, papers, etc. I seriously doubt if it had been fired since it left the factory. I have fired it a BUNCH since I bought it, though. I was wondering if these are considered collectable or desirable, and what kind of a price range they sell for. I really like this revolver and am not interested in selling, just curious what the value may be.
Thank You
Andy

P.S. I would include pics, but taking decent photos of stainless guns is beyond me.

I wouldn't let mine go for less than $750 plus shipping.

I wouldn't let mine go for anything, I think. Trying to work out the total value of my firearms to decide how much I could reasonably spend on a safe.

They add up quick!

I am sentimentally attached to my 629-4 MG. Too many thoroughly satisfying shooting experiences with this superbly accurate firearm. If I was limited to one revolver, this would be the one. I'd probably be wise to have another one for a back-up. I've mentioned on this forum before that I believe S&W produced some of their finest guns in the mid 90's........CNC mills putting out parts that were still assembled by skilled craftsmen.

I have seen Mountain Guns at the gun shows priced close to $1000. Mine is a keeper (629-4).

I have a 629-4, it has the pencil barrel like yours but it is not marked "Mountain Gun" .

However, it came factory ported with a non-fluted cylinder.

I really like it and use it for carry purposes from time to time.

I have one that looks identical with a 2 1/2" barrel but with W/O RR sights called the 'Backpacker'.
