NEED GRIPS
just picked up my used S&W 64-4 snubbie today from J&G.....can someone tell me where to buy walnut grips?
there are several pictures scattered all over this forum with various wood-looking grips which really dress up these guns.
some have finger grips, some do not.
i want to replace my rubber grips with something else.
thanx in advance,
trailblazer

Nill Griffe - Product Search & Shop
These should get you started. If you got deep pockets and want really high quality grips, go for Karl Nill grips. I own several different ones (686, 1911, Tangfolio, HK P7M8) and the craftsmanship is exceptional.
As I tell my students--"When in doubt, Google it." Search the net, you'll find plenty of options.

Just my observations and two cents worth for your consideration. I have carried the 686 & owned it since the early 1980s when the 686 first came out. I've had to "pull-it" in several shootings, I have Pachmayr grips on it since i got it. In the past 25+ years i've fired over 30,000 thru the weapon - mostly on the range qualifying, .. about 10% 357, 50% 38 +P+, and the rest plain 38+P. Recently i purchased a set of Hogue "Pau Ferro" wood grips and put them on. They really look nice, but frankly they don't feel right... too slick, whereas i don't feel 100% in control of the weapon, as though it could almost "jump or slide right out of my hand" under rapid fire or a high stress shooting situation. I have a set of S&W Target grips on my 6 inch 686, and the wood feel is all together different. It feels great. I really believe i'm going back to the Pachmayr or the Hogue Rubber grips. They do "print" against your shirt especially under a knit type shirt, but thats my least concern. You be the judge. All the best.

You can also get grips directly from S&W. Check their website and go to accessories.

Working man's wood
Ok,
Here's some you might consider if you don't want rubber, but want some you can use and not hurt. They make round, square, walnut color, etc.
They're diamondwood of course, and not expensive. This is on a M18.

I have an EAA/Tangfolio Limited .38 super model. It is awesome pistol. The trigger is absolutely amazing. The pistol fits my hand perfectly. Very nicely machined and assembled pistol. I've owned a couple of Tangfolios over the years (both in .38 super) and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Get one, you will not be disappointed.
