In this last trade, I ended up with another 19-3. I had not intended on collecting 6" 19-3's, but it seems like they are multiplying. Even though I have already posted pics of the latest 19-3, here are pics of all three.

While my youngest son was in the hospital in mid-August, I made an opening bid on a 27-2. It had a pristine wooden display box, all tools, and paperwork. Opening bid was $750. After reading warnings about making bids on guns while thinking that you would be outbid, I bid anyway. Guess what? No one else bid on it. Once it got here, I am glad that I did it. Short of the turn line, it was near perfect as well.

With regards to the L-frame pics, I had already posted a pic of the 686-3 quite some time back. About 4 months ago, a buddy of mine new that I loved older Smiths and asked me if I wanted to look at a revolver that his dad had bought new years ago. My friend was about to go trade it on a new Ruger 9mm. He brought in a 681 No dash with a 4" barrel. It had the original grips, a set of Hogues, a holster, and about 150 Winchester hollow points. He said he would take $300. I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough. The 681 No dash already had the "M" stamped on the crane. I also traded a Smith 340SS (with the dreaded internal lock) for a 586 No dash about one month ago. The 586 does not have the "M" stamped on the crane. I will probably send it back to Smith for the repair. Now, I need to find a 581 to go with the rest of set.

They are not rare pistols, but I have enjoyed the quest for finding them about as much as do I owning and shooting them. Although, none of the blued pistols that are pictured above have any blueing wear, every time that I take a pic of a blued gun, the end of the barrel looks like it has blueing loss. I know that most people on here have a preference for barrel length. Unfortunately for me and my pocket book, I love snubbies, 4", 6", and 8 3/8" barrels. I don't own a 5" barreled revolver, but I am pretty sure I would love it also.

Very nice group of guns, nice photography. I have an M19-3 4 inch and and M19-5 2 1/2, your pictures convinced me I need to look for a 19 with a 6 inch barrel!

It is not wax. All I did was wipe them with a soft cloth. I have thought about buying a can of Renaissance (sp?) wax and give that a try.

I seem to get the best pics when I take them outside on an overcast day. I am still not happy with a lot of them because there will be a reflection of my head, the camera, or some other object showing up on the blueing or nickel. There is a post on this site about making a light box for taking pictures inside. I made the light box, and the pictures are nice. However, I obviously don't know how to set my camera to optimize use of the light box. One of the guys that has pictures that I am envious of on this site is "fyimo". He always seems to have "perfect" pictures without his head or some other object showing up on the side of the revolver.
