Question Ruger 556

Has anyone bought one of these? I have a couple of AR's and I like the Rock River carbine, but the guy at Shooters is really touting these as the be all end all AR platform.

I held one the othr day and it felt heavier and I understand the idea behind the piston driven thing.

I was hoping someone may have fired one.

I like mine a lot. The above group was fired offhand at 25 yards using the factory Troy battle sights. 30 rounds fired as fast as I could reacquire the front sight.

I put a Leupold 3-9X on it and fired a 1 1/2" group at 100 yards from a sandbag rest. This was with 600 rounds through a dirty barrel and using Remington bulk (cheap) 45 grain hollowpoints. It's not supposed to be a sniper rifle, but I wonder how it would shoot with a clean barrel and handloads?

No malfunctions of any kind while coming up on 1000 rounds. It came with everything I wanted in an AR-15 platform except for a single point sling mount. I spent $15 on one and cured that problem.

The piston design is easy to clean, which is saying a lot.

If I was gonna buy a .223 and spend the money this Ruger costs, I'd rather buy one like Giz's
New Coyote Medicine....
