Emelie, The Christmas Puppy
Well, a big puppy! Emelie is a rather petite 18-24 month old (???)Irish Wolfhound. In keeping with our other two dogs Duke and Henry Thomas she is a rescue--not abused but given up for adoption when her people divorced. She was being kept by some very kind folks who breed Wolfhounds and we are very luck that she has come to live with us. We are learning about being "house broke" and stairs and jumping in and out of vans & trucks. All a work in progress but sweet and very eager to please.

Bob,
Buy a big vehicle as this one could grow to be huge...
I saw one in the back of a full sized station wagon and it needed more room.
Great dog and good on you for rescuing her.

Aloha,
Looks like she will lick you to death.
Wife rolled over in bed the other night and got french kissed by one of our dogs that snuck into bed when I made a bathroom trip. Not to mention the whiskers....
Good thing she didn't Scream.....
I almost died laughing.
A GMC 4500 pick up may be just the vehicle.....

The reverse is true as well, she is very fortunate to have you! Large dogs are harder to adopt out. I'll bet she's going to be a nice one. I am currently "dogless" but I don't know for how long?

Are you familiar with sighthounds? They are definately different dogs. We have 3 Salukis (and have had as many as 17 at one time) so we know all too well.
Wolfies are fondly known as the "gentle giants", but the very first thing you need to teach her is to stop immediately when commanded. Unfortunately, all sighthounds tend to focus on whatever they are chasing, and the most common cause of death is cars. This is something all sighthound owners learn at some time in their ownership, unfortunately.
Best of luck with her. They are very rewarding dogs, and amazingly affectionate.
