HD Family Get-Together
With the Holiday Season being in full swing, I got the HDs together for a family photo. From back to front: a 6.5" Washington State Patrol Gun from 1956; center - a 5" W&K gun shipped during the 1st month of production, April, 1930; and in front - a 4" gun from 1955.
I hope you enjoy seeing these HDs as much as I enjoy shooting them.

I have S 106346, also a WSP gun shipped on February 21, 1955. Did your gun fall into the same shipment.

Gary, Mine went to Schwabacher Hardware Co. in Seattle - like a number of other WSP guns. It still carries the remnants of WASHINGTON STATE PATROL on the backstrap. Apparently, the state tried to remove these stampings before getting rid of the guns. It shipped in August of 1956. There is a good article mentioning these WSP guns in the S&W Journal, Book 3, pgs 821-834.
Mike, It's too bad someone scratched up the side of your gun with their names. Don't you just hate that!

I am really beginning to like the Heavy Duties, and wishing that I owned one. These are some more fine examples of a great handgun.

Speaking about guns getting scratched up, here is another (not mine).
Its a registered magnum.
