Default J&G Sales Also has model 15's...

While still considering which Model 64 to buy, I noticed that they also have model 15's, in two different grades...
Smith & Wesson Model 15, 38Spl 4in, DAO. Good to very good condition
I already have a Model 15, but I know some here are looking for one.

If the ones in their pic's are good to very good condition, I would hate to see what their bad condition ones look like.

I don't doubt that they are NRA Good +, which is reflected in the very reasonable price. J&G states that they were Police revolvers, so they probably saw a lot of holster time.

I'm sure no one would expect a pampered safe queen for $219.95

They also have a better looking grade for $349...depends on whether you want a shooter or a safe queen, I guess.

Those guns are junkers. You can bet they put the best looking ones in the ad. You can only guess what the rest of them look like. I wouldn't buy one of them at any price.

Wow...sorry I mentioned it. You wouldn't buy "at any price"...? Pretty broad statement, don't you think? Sounds like the difference between a shooter and a collector.
I, for one, have had very good luck with LE trade ins. As long as a handgun is functional, I really don't care about appearance. I like a carry gun I don't have to baby because I am worried about messing up it's safe queen finish.

I bet they're good serviceable guns and if one was in the classifieds here for $219 it wouldn't last long.

I sincerely doubt that they are "junkers". I bought a S&W M10-7 from J&G and it is mechanically excellent. For the price I paid, it was a good deal.

If you want better condition, $350 + shipping is a decent price for their "very good +" M15s. J&G are good people to deal with.

J&G does not put the nicest ones on for the pics. Read the reviews... Most people get guns that are much nicer than they expected. I got a LNIB 4566 from the on a LEO trade in for 349. It does help that I am in AZ and drive to the store and handpick mine for no extra fee

That is good to know. The ones pictured are pretty rough. For a gun thrown in a tackle box or under a truck seat, they would probably be fine. I occasionally see guns in like condition at the gun shows and they usually sell for under $200. For $300-350 you can find some pretty nice S&W's that don't require refinishing and are mechanically excellent. I would prefer to spend a few dollars more and get a gun that would retain some value.

Aren't all of these M15's DAO? Not a bobbed hammer, but no single-action.

amd, thanks for the heads up. I am going to buy 5 of them and give them to my shooting buddies next year for Christmas. For $200, I don't care if they are rats as long as they function.

PS: I just looked at the $300 ones and a couple of them look brand new. THANKS again.

As I have said in another thread I purchased 2 model 64's listed as very good plus. Both appear to have been shot very little and were is better condition than described. May be I was lucky buying any thing at those prices is a gamble. The stocks on both were real beat up and did need to be replaced. Typical of LEO turn ins.

I have bought a few le turn ins. Three good ones:
A 4" M19 blue, like new except for really bad grips - how that happened I'll never know. The le dealer allowed me to exchange them for a nice pair off another one that was only in fair condition.
Another was a nice M37, but an undercover buddy talked me out if it.
The third was a 6" M17, never fired. It was bought by a PD for cheaper training purposes.

I have purchased 8 used revolvers from J&G in the past 6 years without a problem. All the guns were in better condition than graded. A M10 bought last year was in new unfired condition. The reason that J&G can sell these guns so cheap is that they part everything out. LEO returns usually come with boxes and all accessories. J&G has been selling the original wood grips, boxes, holster and other accessories on ebay. I have seen them make $200 - $300 on accessories.
