Question question about 686's

I have two one a no dash and one a -6...I noticed the rear sight on my no dash is broken in two...and it is different than my newwer one it is square in the front and has a smaller screw into the frame ...will smith and wesson have an older style one or am I off part searching..
It is broken inbetween the two screws and only one holds it to the frame...in two pieces and nothing holds the rear blade on.

S&W might have a replacement available. Looks like e-gunparts.com has a rear sight leaf available, but that's just the leaf; you'd have to rebuild the whole rear sight (including breaking the windage nut/screw to get the sight blade out, and then installing and staking a new nut/screw into the new leaf). Unfortunately, the complete assembly appears to be sold out.

GunBroker.com has a complete assembly listed (auction # 151395270; can't link to a live auction), though I don't know if it'll fit your 686 (namely, the front screw might not be in the right place).

S&W should have the sight in stock the last time I looked, Open the cylinder on the new one and you will see three holes they are for a scope mount where the -1 won't have it. This is one of the up grades on it.
