Talking winter time fishing on the gulf (pic hvy)

It was 35 degrees, but the water was flat so we went. What can I say?

The college educated Fish and Game folks say the red snapper in the gulf are drastically over fish and need a year or two "off" to recover. In 6 hours, 3 of us caught over 60 snapper. Probably 40 of those were keepers (16+ inches) and several were over 27 inches and 22-24 inchers were common.

People in the fishing business say that they are cleaning big red snapper that have 8-10" grouper in their bellies. Thwey just devreased the number of gag from 5 to 2.

Grouper was a bit slow. 2 keeper gags and no keeper red grouper. We did stumble into a school of redfish though, Caught a 27, 36 and 38 inchers. Kept the 27 and had to throw back the 36 and 38 inchers. Caught about 15 short amberjacks. Must be 30 inches to keep one now, Good luck doing that.

enjoy,
SC

Anyway, had a good day with good friends and wanted to share (brag).

Me thinks the scripts are kicking in just fine.
You OK?
Your typing skills went to hell quite fast.
Best of luck.

I had a cystoscopy last year. They did it under general anesthesia. I went to the hospital in the morning and was home by 2 PM. No after effects. Very comfortable. I don't know whether all doctors do it under general anesthesia and I've heard from others that without it the procedure hurts like hell.

Looks like fun. We're leaving tommorow to bring the Hatteras to Orange Beach through the ditch. After the weather breaks, we're gonna run it down to Ft. Lauderdale to fish the Winter sailfish season. SOmething about boating in the winter-you have the whole gulf to yourself. You're correct about the snapper, they are all over the place over here too an dwe can't keep but 2 when the season is open

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I woke up an hour after I posted that post. Went to bed, left the computer on and connected to the internet all night. Woke up this moring with a vague memory of typing something last night and hoping I hadn't said anything to anyone to offend them.

You're right, one shouldn't take triazolam, lorazepam and loritab in heavy doses and pretend to know what his hands/fingers are doing late at night.

I couldn't even understand what I wrote last night in the last 2 sentences.

Sorry for the "slobberings".

How's the finger, too? Good luck to you in your surgery.

Nice fish, by the way! Those are some monster redfish.

Hey, SC -

Are you speaking of a bladder cystoscopy?

If so, it's no sweat nowadays. I've had surgery for bladder cancer, so they do a cystoscopy every three months to ensure everything's OK. Nothing to it other than some slight and fairly brief discomfort. Rarely takes more than 5 or 10 minutes (not counting the waiting time with your pants down around your ankles).

The only problem, as explained to me by my pharmacist buddy, is that, after a while, you get to where you like it.

Right!!!

Yes it is a bladder/urethra check for blockage. Had one back in 95 while I was outprocessing to retire.

How well I remember the SFC Corpsman with the shaved head in his white uniform. He put on gloves (thick ones) up to his shoulders and scrubbed me down like they were gonna open me up. Then he took a 10cc syringe (minus the needle) full of jelly lidacane (sp) and slowly started to force it in. Burned like a yellow jacket sting, then nothing for the next 5 or 6 hours. Doc used a "flexible" scope and was done in less than 5 minutes. Had no blockage(s) then, but Doc thinks this monday will be different and more complicated. But it's supposed to be an office procedure...............

Last monday was my first visit to this new urologist. I was sitting on the exam table while the nurse took vitals and all. I was looking around on all the table/counter tops and all I could see was a box of small and medium gloves. I remember thinking the "exam" shouldn't be too bad then. Nurse says the doctor will be in to see you shortly. In walks a strapping young man about 6'2". Introduces him self. I like him already. We talk for about 10 minutes about symptoms and other things. Then he asked me if I was ready???????? I took a ddep breath, swallowed my pride and said yessir, let's get it over with. Then he started grumbling about the nurses never leave a box of large gloves out on the counter. I sighed and took another deep breath and the party began.

I hear really good things about this doctor, so I guess I'm lucky to be his patient. Not looking forward to Monday, but I am looking forward to some relief.

Will post pix Monday after I get done with the proceure. ;-)

Hey, 35. Finger is all but well. A bit tender and sensitive to cold, but at least i didn't have to learn to shoot with a "new" finger. I did loose the nail though.

Alrighty guys, it 2.5 hours past my bed time, but the meds aren't working tonight. My parathesia is working overtime and my legs and feet feeling like they're being boiled in oil! Been a really rough week.

Thanks to all for your encouragement and well wishes. I've been in a deep rut for weeks now and needed it.

Thanks again and the wife and I wish you all a prosperous year and good health.
