Default 4506 trigger guard modification?

Does this trigger guard look modified?

It should be the square type and it is but the corner of it looks to be a bit rounded although not truly rounded like the later 4506.

Is there a 3rd version with a square trigger guard with a bit of rounding to the corner or could it maybe have been ground smoother?

It looks modified to me too. I saw this on GB too, but don't recall the owner addressing the trigger guard.

Yes it appears to be modified. This is mine that is modified and the frame refinished. I removed the concaved hook trigger guard with the poor excuse of checkering.

dennis40x, your mod looks very professional. I can see that you thinned the thick part after the checkering/hook removal, made a lot of difference in how it came out.

Yes, that trigger guard has been ground down and, if you look real closely at the side of the frame, it appears the bead blasted finish has been polished out. I saw this one on GB and steered clear of it although the price seems to be quite low. On a collectibility rating of 1 - 10, this one gets about a 2.

Yeah, I thought it looked fishy. Price was good but I opted for an unmolested no dash instead. Thanks for the comments guys. I'll try to get a good range report posted ASAP.

Rolando:
I just got a 4506-1 on GB and am anxiously awaiting its arrival here at my FFL dealer. A 98% gun with a box, no less! Only "problems" with it are those ugly blued parts - trigger and hammer. I'd have bumped another hundo or so to have found one with the ss parts but then I'd have had to settle for that goofy-shaped trigger guard. Ugh!

Yeah, I agree that the blued trigger and hammer don't match well. I do like the older style trigger guard though. I was watching a bunch of 45s on GB and you probably scooped one that was on my watch list. Did you get one with the cool rear sight guards? I'm not sure about those or not. A very...ummm.. unique feature.

Rolando:

Yeah, I gor the one from woldson1 that was advertised as unfired, 98%and that's the good news. Bad news is that this was apparently a fraudulent ad, seller and transaction as I sent the seller $470.00 for the gun nearly a month ago and I haven't heard from him since.

He cashed my money order, doesn't answer phone calls or e-mail and I don't have the gun. Good thing you passed on that one. I got suckered-in and am now out $470.00.

Caveat emptor, as Gunbroker says...
