Default FN 5.7 pistol

Anybody have any experience with these ? My wife really liked one at the local gun shop and i want to encourage her interest in guns. How really effective would it be for SD compared to the more traditional calibers we are used to?

Thanks for any thoughts, Dave

I have one and a PS 90 as well. They are a lot of fun to shoot but the energy is about the same as a 22 hornet. Having 20 of them in the magazine may help but I prefer something with a "4" on the cartridge.
YMMV

I think they are different enough to be attractive, & I'd probably already have one if it weren't for 3 things:
1) IMO, they are way over-priced for what you get (which is a small
caliber defensive gun for defeating Kevlar). For defense, I'd go with
a larger diameter bullet at a slower speed.
2) Ammo is not that common where I shop.
3) Although it looks like it might be a fun game-getter for the
appropriately sized prey, none of the squirrels or armadillos in my
neck of the woods wear bullet-proof vests.

I do hear that the recoil is very mild, especially considering the velocity.

I do not own one but have shot it. It is a really great shooting gun and very accurate.Easy to shoot. As mentioned it is overpriced but the ammo is still around $20 for a box of 50.. Lots of folks disagree on the guns usefulness for SD but it is a screaming round and unfortunately we know what kind of damage it can do.
If your wife likes it and you have the $$, why not?
