2.5" 586 price check please
Not mine, but what should one expect to pay for what's in this box? The gun is in VG to EXC condition and comes with Combat grips...Thanks in advance...

What I would pay...
I would happily pay 450 for what is in that box, if it is as described...

This barrel length in this model is kind of scarce. I have been watching for one for a while and saw one sell about a month ago or so that was in very good condiction. Price was 800.00. Saw another one for sale that had a touch of barrel wear on it and the asking price was 850.00.

Saw two this week in a Delray Beach Fl shop. Don't know if you are in the area, but both were $550, and looked to me (although I did'nt handle) like new. I have no affiliation with shop.

Got mine!
Two weeks ago off GB, new in the box, matching s/n, and papers, no tools for $800 delivered including transfer fees. First shot at 10 yards was a perfect X.
I am still happy.

If you buy an shoot that gun, you will be a happy guy. The 686/586 was one of S&Ws big winners, and the snub is really nice. I have the 2.5" 686 and a 3 incher, I go to the 2.5" most of the time. They are great shooters. I can only dream about getting a 586.

I have a couple of 686's in 2.5" already. This 586 gun is on a local forum and the guy wants $975...too steep for me though.Anyone know how many were made?

I would be interested in the contact information for that shop. I consider that kind of money a steal for such a limited production gun.

The quantity of 158 was for the export version that was made for Brazil and chambered in 38 Special (product code 103497). For the actual 357 Mag version (product code 103500), these were mostly distributed by US distributors (believe mainly RSR) and I'm certain the number is quite a bit higher, but have no production information.

Sharp looking little gun. Might have to move this one a few more places up the ladder!

Scarce gun...
I have the 2.5 inch 686, and one sees a fair number of these on the market. The 2.5 inch 586 is scarce, however, and you could look a long time to find one. For one in excellent condition I would estimate $600 for the 686 and close to $800 for the 586.
The two 586s in Florida for $550 sound like a steal to me, if their condition is excellent.
Here is my 686, which cost $595 a year ago:
