k22 mod 17-3
Hello, I picked up a k-22 17-3 serial 3k69561 about a year ago. It is in excellent condition, no wear on the blueing and almost no cyclinder wear. Has target hammer, trigger and grips. Very beatiful gun and a pleasure to shoot. I now look forward to purchasing more smith revolvers in the future. I would appreciate if some of you could tell me a little about the gun and how old it is. It does have a pinned barrel. I am wondering about the year it was manufactured.

Welcome to the forum!
Your gun was made in 1972. It is one of, if not the best 22 revo's ever made. They are great guns for sure. Here is mine 17-3 that was built in '73-

thanks for the info. I bought it from a woman a gas/bait shop paris tn while camping with some friends from church. I got it for 300 dollars and was told i got a steal on it. I got scared and had my buddy at the police dept to run the numbers and it came back clean. From what i can gather it is worth 450 to 700, not that i ever plan on selling it. What to you think the gun is worth. It is in about the same condition as yours. This was my first smith and hopefully not my last. I have let a couple of deals get by me in the past a some 357 smiths at the hospital where i work. It seams the other nurses always have a gun they got out of a divorce or want to sell a disceased husbands guns. I plan on paying more attention in the future when an oppurtuniy presents its self

They generally are running for somewhere between $500-$600 even in this economy.

it would be hard to imagine a nicer .22 than a k22. i used to shot the national match course with mine. i noticed the local range is starting up league. i think i will start participating although my eyes are not what they once were.
enjoy your gun and find a k38!

My K22 was built in 1955. I wouldn't consider selling mine for $500. You did well. Very accurate and lots of fun.
