Default Mommy. Where do holsters come from?

From this messy little table holsters are made. That line drawing is 45wheelgunner's "holster" in it's infancy. Stay tuned!

Very nice setup. I've done a few holsters but was never completely satisfied with them. I like your leather carving.

Well we know something: Wheelgunner45 is a lefty (or ambidextourous).

Nice bench, nice work.

No, I'm the lefty. His is just getting put on paper there. That .44 Special is my model for his short barreled S&W. Coming soon to a gun forum near you!

I think I see some tools I don't have. Nice set up.
Wyatt, where do you get your leather?

I go to a Tandy's right here in town. Two of these holsters pictured pays for half a cow. Thens it's lots of labor, thread and dye.

The Tandy store here closed years ago. I guess I didn't give them enough buisness. There is one in Montgomery.
What do you use for the dark background like on the holster in the picture? And what do you apply it with? I tried something like that once with some black dye but it wanted to bleed onto surrounding leather.
Hope you don't mind the questions.

Not at all. To avoid the bleeding you mention you/I have to be super diciplined in the tooling. the backround has to be deep, consistant and clean. then I use little model paint bushes to drop the dye in the recessed areas so it spreads out but doesn't overflow. The tooling has to be as flawless as possible because that dye is unforgiving when you drop it in there. Glad to help or be helped by fellow forum leather fetishers. Matt
