K22 Combat Masterpiece Gun show find!(+Range results 2/3/10)
I got very lucky today to find a K22 Combat Masterpiece. This gun is just a shooter but the amazing thing is the serial number. I already have a K38 & K22. Here is the serial number breakdown.
6" K38 K1448XX
6" K22 K1543XX
4" K22 K1708XX
If I read the SCSW correctly all three of these K's were made in 1952. The numbers on the stocks match the gun. I gave $350 out the door.
Top K22 Middle K22 Bottom K38

At $350 OTD, that sounds like a great buy to me. What a nice trio! Congrats.

Lucky don't really say it! Larcenous would be closer to it.

Where in the world did you find a gun show this weekend?
New Birlin is the only one for me in a while

Great find! Congratulations
It makes a nice companion to your other guns indeed.
How does it shoot?
Not that I'm worried about its performance at the range, though.

Bargain!
With the K170xxx serial number, the CM may have shipped in early '53 -- but late '52 is possible. You'd have to letter it to be sure.

K155836 shipped 11/5/52 so that highest number may have slipped into early 1953 assuming they shipped about when they should have.

625,
Congratulations on a great find. Gotta love those pre-18s.
Did the seller know why it has a target trigger in it?
Good shooting.

Added range results
I was in such a hurry to get to the range tonight I forgot my screwdriver
to set the sights. Well here are the results at 50 feet offhand.

Nice purchase
Great find, great price, a keeper. Can't get much more enjoyable than a day at the range with a Smith 22!
