Default K38 Question

My dad bought a 14-3 K38, shouldn't this have a recessed charge holes? The barrel is pinned but no recessing on cylinder. Looking at other 14's they don't seem to be recessed either. Did they never recess the K38's?

K-38's (either pre-Model 14's or actual Model 14s) never had recessed chambers.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder what the reason was for never recessing the chambers on the 14.

Only 22LR and Magnum cartridges (.357, 41, 44) had recessed cylinders. 22LR are the only ones now made with recessed cylinders.
