Default Cylinder replacement options for a 340pd?

I have a 340pd with titanium cylinder.I am starting to get some slight erosion marks around the cyl bores on the face of the cyl. I called Smith and they sent me a shipping lable. They said they would see if it was there liability or not. S&W asked if I was the original owner, I told the rep I bought the gun from Gander used and she kinda gave me the it might not be covered routine. I am wondering what my options are for replaceing the cyl on my own. I would like to replace it with a bright stainless cyl and extractor rod. This is where I once again need your help so I know what to buy as far as a replacement. What model 357 cyl will interchange with the current one and how much fitting will be required? Thanks Dale.

I see at Midway they have titanium replacements but they are back ordered. I would really like to swap to a nickle or bright stainless if possible.

Just have S&W do it while it is at the factory. The reason it might not be covered is the reason I do not buy titanium cylinder revolvers - use of an abrasive will damage a coating and once damaged the cylinder will erode aggressively. S&W will not cover it under warranty if the coating is damaged. Just have S&W replace it with a stainless cylinder and be done with it.

That probably will be the case but why would I pay 250 or whatever parts and labor before I find out if I can do it for the cost of the cylinder at home? Thats my problem no ability to get anyone at Smith to have a conversation long enough to allow me to make a proper decision. Why would I want to tie my primary carry piece up for who knows how long just to have them send it back and say it not covered, within specs or overcharge? Im not much for a big runaround, I think Im going to let someone local fix it if I can find out what cylinders will work for a swap.

New model 60 cylinder should be the same length,
Should be in the 125$ range with extractor.
You may need to do a tad of work on the extractor and shim the cyl. a bit to get to align in the cyl. window properly.

S&W repairs are remarkably inexpensive. Chances are they'll do the fix for free but if not, since they're paying shipping, they'll be by far the cheapest and simplest option.
