I am looking at a used 40cal 4006 in a pawn shop. What do I need to look for in the way of problem areas?

The 4006 is pretty much a tank, awful hard to wear out. Slide to frame fit (a slight amount of play is OK) and barrel being snug in the slide when closed are a couple of things to check. Early mags have yellow followers later have blue, one really isn't any better than the other on them. I would install a new recoil spring when you get and then every 4-5,000rds for good measure. Other than that enjoy shooting it.

FYI- Chestnut Ridge Supply has them for $349.00, just so you know what the prices run.

Handgunner356 is right. The 4006 with the Novak style sights is a lot of fun to shoot and tames the .40 caliber rounds well. With a Don Hume 721 holster it carries very comfortably. Dependable and solid.

The biggest problem with the 4006 is trying to keep it fed at the range. These are solid, fun, and accurate pistols. I may be a little biased since a 4006 was my first gun.
