Default 1911 ?

I love history and have always loved guns of all sorts but it was only in the last year that I've really started trying to learn more about the history of handguns and S&W in particular. My first ever purchase of a pistol was just a year ago, an M&P 40. I'm wondering if there has ever been an M&P branded 1911?

Not that I'm aware of.

I don't think there will be, either. M&P is a S&W trademark, while the 1911 is really a competitor's design. I don't see them putting M&P on the 1911 pistols.
