Default would you have made this trade ?

I traded a Kimber custom classic 1911 that i was only into for a few hundred that i didnt really like since i started buying colt 1911s for a 70s vintage model 60 no dash pinned barrel w/ box and all papers and the cleaning rod and he threw in a aluminim tyler grip and it came with incorrect but preferred diamond grips off an older gun and 300 cash to me.
i think i got the better deal. what say you ?

I pick up in 10 days.

I think you got taken. Just kidding. It sounds like a good deal in my book. It really comes down to how happy does the 60 make you feel as opposed to the Kimber. Pictures please.

If it was a series one Kimber I would not have made that trade.

From your POV, it's 200 for a 60 with a Tyler and diamond grips that you prefer. That, by itself, is a VERY good deal, made possible by your getting your hands on the Kimber for 500 in the first place. Although I kind of like 1911s that work, that wasn't what you were dealing with. You certainly didn't get hurt. It is certainly possible that the other fellow did well, also. Looks like he has about 700 in a Kimber with some problems, but it's not like there aren't folks around that can fix them.

I too would have kept the first series Kimber and made it work. Not being a fan of M-60s makes the decision easy. YMMV!

Any time I trade off a gun I don't like for one I do, it's a good deal. I won't have the money next week, I'll have the gun forever. Well maybe. Joe

Depends on how much you wanted the 60, I think I would have kept the Kimber.

I think you would have been further a head selling the Kimber and then buying the model 60. That said the art of a deal is if both parties are happy with the end result so if you are happy and you represent both sides of this trade then it's a good deal.

I would have kept the Kimber. I have 11 of them at the moment and they all work in superlative fashion. A 60 just does not light my fire.

I think Kimber makes an awesome weapon, hope you are happy though with whatever choice you make.

You did good because:
1. You were only $500 into the Kimber
2. You really didn't like the gun
3. You replaced it with another gun plus $300 in cash.

Now, take that $300 and put it towards another gun. It'll end up being a 2 fer 1 deal.

I did the same thing but with a "shooter" 6" Python. Long story was, got the Python for nearly nothing and I never warmed up to it. I sold it and made enough on it to fund a pair of "unfired" still in the box Lew Horton's (a 24 and a 624) I'm very happy with that outcome.
